I really hate it when they "re-write" the books of these old shows that have been working for eons.
Remember what they did to the book of FLOWER DRUM SONG?
The SOUTH PACIFIC revival shows us that the right production and cast and creative team CAN make these shows work.
BRIGADOON may not be as good as SOUTH PACIFIC but it has been entertaining people for years.

I agree. Brigadoon was just fine the way it was.

Posted: 4/7/08 at 4:38pmUsually I'm right with the purists. But I do think Brigadoon, with its sublime score and captivating story, is a show that could still stand to be shaken up a bit and freed from years of sleepy civic light opera productions in church basements.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
