Has anyone ever been backstage for it? It is so cool to see the set up close.
He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.
"Nancy Opel is great so long as you haven't seen Beth Leavel in the role."
I disagree. I saw Beth Leavel and adored her, but I thought Nancy Opel was also fabulous. A bit different, but fabulous.
After I got past the initial "this isn't how Bob Martin did it!!" mindset, I LOVED Jonathan Crombie. He was hysterically funny and touching. The actor playing Aldolpho just screamed Trying Too Hard, though.
EDIT to add: I saw James Moye in the role (hadn't realized a new actor has joined the cast, sorry for any possible confusion).

I went to the Drowsy website to look up the cast that is now on tour. That's when I saw that James Moye (the original "Tour Aldolpho") had left the cast. So I looked further and found out that he's going into A TALE OF TWO CITIES
Fromage, I do not know the actor you saw as Aldolpho, but I will say this: The OFFICIAL "Drowsy Chaperone" website lists this actor as playing "Adolpho." NOT "ALdolpho"! Excuse me, but how many times does he say (and sing!), "I am ALdolpho!" This is an outrage I tell you! An outrage!!!

I keep on debating on whether to go see it again. I might, but since I saw it the first time before it went to Broadway, I am afraid I might be disappointed.
YWIW, I don't know if this helps you decide or not, but if it had been playing when we were in LA, we would have gone to see it again! (In fact, as mentioned, I'd wanted to be there when the tour was in town, but had to accommodate my kids' schedules, so we came in June instead.) And we've all seen it multiple times!
I know a very nice couple who are dying to see it. I'm sure they would accompany you if given the opportunity! And if Mama You hasn't seen it, take her!

I have a passport for the Theater Group, so I can get tickets for %50 of face. I will mention it to my theater friend to see what she thinks... Mama You has seen it, and loved it before it went to BW.
Miss Pennywise, that's interesting about Adolpho/Aldolpho, but I honestly think his name is Adolpho, regardless of how he himslef pronounces it with that thick accent. If a sterotyped Chinese character is named Ling but he keeps saying, "Herro, my name is Ring", does that mean his character name would be listed as Ring in the program rather than Ling? I think these are kind of the same thing.
Well, Miss Pennywise, I'm sure you're right -- but the official website is not alone. I googled a number of things and kept finding cast lists which named various actors playing "Adolopho". Then I googled and found the lyrics to the song "I am Adolpho" even though within the lyrics it was always spelled Aldolpho. So it seemed logical that even the creators were saying his name was Adolpho, but he should pronounce it Aldolpho. But more googling finds inconsistencies from that pattern. In any case this has given me a headache. I think I'll go take an Aldvil and lie down!

No, Patash, the creators did not intend it to be Adolpho. They intended it to be Aldolpho. And the role is being taken over by Dale, who was a swing in NYC.
I have already admitted that I was wrong. I was merely pointing out how many sources also got it wrong. Is that clear? No need to continue telling me I was wrong, which I've already confirmed, unless it makes you feel good to do so. Sorry if it appeared I was arguing when I was merely pointing out other places that also got it wrong. Updated On: 7/12/08 at 09:00 PM
