Celebrating the run of the little Broadway show
that could and DID!

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is pleased to continue THE AFTER PARTY, our weekly schmoozefest for the theatrically inclined that has become the hit of midtown. There is no cover and no minimum. Come hang out and enjoy a cocktail and delicious food with friends as singers from Broadway and beyond take turns on stage, or take to the stage yourself as part of the open mic. All are welcome. Reservations are not necessary for this event. The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within The West Bank Cafe, 407 West 42nd St. (@ 9th Ave).

On Friday, October 17th, we’re especially pleased to welcome special guest hosts, Title of Show’s Hunter Bell and Susan Blackwell. On Friday, we’ll be celebrating the Broadway run of [tos], the little Broadway show that not only could but DID! Also expect tunes from After Party co-host Alysha Umphress, Anne Brummel (who begins work as the new Elphaba cover in the Wicked tour in a few months) and the talented staff of regulars. Avenue Q’s Mark Hartman is at the piano.

Doors open at 10:30, and things get underway at 11pm. See you there!

OMG I am so right there with you!

The last vampire is the mother of all vampires and that is the vampire of despair. It'll wake you up at 4am to say things like: Who do you think you are kidding? You look like a fool! No matter how hard you try, you'll never be good enough! Why is it that if some dude walked up to me on the subway platform and said these things, I'd think he was a mentally ill as-h-le, but if the vampire inside my head says it,It's the voice of reason! Can anyone who has been to this before tell me what it actually is? I read the blurb on the website, but it's unclear. Will they be performing, or just... hosting? Also, do they take reservations for this?

avab, it's a "weekly schmoozefest for the theatrically inclined." It's pretty much like a piano bar, cabaret-ish feel. You sit and order drinks (and food, if you want it) and socialize and listen to/watch people sing. Anyone can sing, as long as the song is from a musical, or written by someone who wrote a musical, or if Pay (the pianist) knows it off the top of his head/can improvise it, or if it is sung by Brandon (the host)'s favorite singer, Sandi Patty. The hosts are hilarious, and it's a really fun atmosphere. As smurfet said, they'll perform a few songs, but don't worry, they'll have plenty of mic-time. Which should be increasingly hilarious as the liquor flows (on your end or theirs). :o)

I don't drink, I went when I was still under 21, and I had a great time. And if you're under 21, I don't think you'll have a problem anyhow. re: HUNTER BELL & SUSAN BLACKWELL co-host Fri's AFTER PARTY

This is when I get sad that I live in Boston. I shelled out most of my expendable income to make the trip last weekend and thus won't be able to again for quite some time.

To everyone who is going, Have a Blast!
