Yep, I'm still weird.

Plum - I just looked back at your list - I like a lot of those movies! There's perhaps a streak of violence that runs through some, which I'm not drawn to, but I do like some of them very much. You're not as weird as you may think re: 10 Favorite Films...

re: 10 Favorite Films...#59

Posted: 9/28/04 at 6:51pm

Oh, that's strange. I actually don't particularly like action movies, and I get more disturbed than excited by violence. I think if I made my list today I wouldn't stick Fight Club in it. But like I said, that's what came to mind that day.

And I'm fine with being weird- I've been doing it for almost as long as I can remember. :)

I admit he has done some crap, but who hasn't? His work in L.A. Confidential and Memento are fine examples of what he is capable of.

And he is cute. re: 10 Favorite Films...

Shesings - of course not! We'll have our own special festival re: 10 Favorite Films...

Guy Pierce was beyond perfect in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

zepka - all I can tell you is I thought it was amazing. The performances are extraordinary, and it's quite the story - with truly some of the most amazing set pieces I've ever seen in a film.

Ooh, I loved Priscilla! But Hugo Weaving looks downright terrifying during parts of that movie. Eek. And yes, Guy Pearce was very memorable there. Moreso than even in Memento, I think.

Though not quite as much as in L.A. Confidential, of course. re: 10 Favorite Films...

good thing about that film festival DGRAnt, I was going to be pretty upset. First I don't make the cut for the BWW musical, then my movie night gets thrown aside too. I was contemplating hurling myself out the window into the rain if things didn't look up soon.

A word about Bette Davis...

I think I'm in love. I have watched a lot of her films this week, and I am in total awe every single time. How... in the name of all that is holy... does she completely transform into these different characters?

Charlotte Vale, Margo Channing, Joyce Heath, Julie Marsden, Jane Hudson, Regina Giddens, Judith Traherne, Charlotte Hollis, Queen Elizabeth I... All of these are great, great performances, each with their own distinct qualities that she discovers and utilizes so brilliantly. In ever film, she speaks, moves, and looks different. HOW DOES SHE DO IT?

I don't care if she was a bitch, or what not. In a few years, I will make it a point to seek out her tombstone, and put flowers on it.

These days, there's Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep. Before them... there was Bette Davis. Updated On: 9/29/04 at 09:45 AM

Notice Margo didn't put SCHINDLER'S LIST on that list. It only proves what I've long thought. Margo Channing is a Jew hater.
