Hard to believe that it was 13 years ago today that Princess Diana was killed in Paris.

It was Saturday, August 30th here in Los Angeles (the 31st in Paris), when I was out to dinner with friends, and our server came over and told us what happened. We were just shocked - we took our food back to my apartment and watched CNN for the rest of the night. Very, very sad.

Our parents will always remember where they were, what they were doing when Kennedy was shot. It's one of those moments that you'll always remember.

Has it been that long already? Wow.

It was my first day of college. I wouldn't go to bed until they confirmed that she had actually died.

I had just gotten back from Paris that afternoon, and it all seemed so surreal having just been there and being jet-lagged. But I stayed up all night glued to the T.V.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Wow is right. I remember it being very late and telling my parents who were in bed. We all went out into the living room and put the news on. They kept saying she was taken to the hospital and after a little while my Dad just said "She's dead. I know it". It wasn't until a while later they confirmed it, but that was something I'll never forget.

SNL had just come on. Tom Hanks was the host and the Spice Girls were the musical guests. The news broke in at the perfect moment for it to seem like it was some weird news sketch. It took me a few moments to realize it was real.

Yes...I think that my roommate and I had SNL on. I remember her being upset that I cared so much.

I was in Vegas for a wedding and heard about the accident in my hotel room. As we were walking around that night, a woman working at NY,NY told us that she had died. I just remember walking around in sort of a sad state of shock. I had always admired Princess Diana's style and remember thinking what a shame it was that her sons had to lose their mother so young.

Jeez. I remember talking about this in Playbill chat.

And that's where I found out Mother Thersa died, too!

I forgot they died right around the same time.

And it was two years ago today that we came THAT F**KING CLOSE to never knowing who Sarah Palin is.

That poor Mother Theresa! I remember hearing about what happened to her!

In what is widely believed to be the result of clerical error on the part of Heaven's massive soul-evaluation and punishment-allocation bureaucracy, The Calcutta Daily-Telegram reported Monday that beloved missionary caregiver Mother Teresa was condemned to agonizing, eternal torment in Hell following her death last Friday at the age of 87.

Mother Teresa, who for decades inspired the world with her selfless devotion to the starving, disease-ridden masses of Calcutta, was unavailable for comment, as she was being lowered upside-down into a vat of boiling human excrement by a trio of pitchfork-wielding demons. Similar punishment reportedly awaits her for the rest of eternity.

I remember coming home that Saturday night, getting a cryptic message on the answering machine, and turning on the TV, to all the coverage. My partner at the time literally collapsed to the floor in the fetal position, I'm afraid that all I could think of was how this was the best career move Diana could possibly have made, and feeling rather icky about feeling that. Still, it can't be denied: Game, set and match to Diana over the royals.

We were in a restaurant when news started to spread about the accident. Like everyone else, we sat in front of the TV until the sad news of her passing was announced.

Maybe I'll watch The Queen tonight.

What I really remember most about that situation was the funeral procession through London, and being amazed at the out-pouring of visible grief by so many along the route.

I was upstate visiting a friend who actually knew Diana, believe it or not, having dated a royal a number of years earlier. So that was odd, but also we hadn't been watching the news--hadn't turned on a TV or radio--so we didn't know until late Sunday.

I had a similar reaction to Roscoe in that I thought "Somehow this seems the only way this story could have ended."

I was out that night, and went straight to bed when I got home so I didn't hear about it until the next morning. Awful.

I forget what my family was doing that night, but we didn't know anything happened until we went to church and they put her in the prayer list. Our neighbor told us because we were really confused by that.

My family was on their way home from a family friend's barbecue when they announced it on the radio. My parents yelled at us kids in the back of the minivan to be quiet and turned up the radio to hear the news. I still remember that moment.

As impossible as it may seem, she has all but been erased from British history.

The way this has been achieved in thirteen short years is testament to the establishment.

When something about her does come up, such as the anniversary of her death, this is how it is presented.

The great thing with human brains is they're fanless, nice and quiet although I'm sure mine whistles a bit sometimes.

The establishment may have erased a lot of Diana, but they'll never be able to erase her son's resemblance to her. When he's finally crowned King of England, and her face is looking out from under that crown, the heavens will be shaking with her laughter.

Ehhh, the establishment doesn't need to erase William's resemblance to Diana, time is doing that for him. He's looking a LOT more like his father these days, poor lamb. :/
