But Grindhouse, Black Snake Moan, and Music and Lyrics were horrible. But I do love Hugh Grant.
I've never even heard of Mr.Brooks or Behind the Mask.

Also Disturbia i thought did incredibly well at the box office...
Black Snake Moan was a horrific peice of garbage.
I will agree that Vacancy was WAY overlooked.

I liked BLAKE SNAKE MOAN. Except it needed a better ending... Christina Ricci can do no wrong.

I like to think that DEAD SILENCE is a comedy classic that's being overlooked. I've hardly heard anyone at all talking about it, but the trailer was so hilarious that I laughed for about twenty minutes solid after I saw it the first time. Then I had to run all over the house and make my housemates watch it. Then I watched it again and laughed some more.
Of course, it's meant to be a horror film, so maybe my response does not bode so well...

Ivan and I liked DEAD SILENCE.
The old woman/ghost was terrific.

Broadway86, how was DISTURBIA underrated and underseen? It debuted at number one at the box office and stayed that way for three weeks. Then went down to number two when SPIDERMAN 3 opened. I think it did pretty well. And as for SPIDERMAN 3 being underseen, it had the highest openeing weekend gross in history. Worldwide it grossed over 880 million dollars. I'd say that's pretty damn good.
And as for underseen films of '06: ZYZZX RD. with Katherine Heigl and Tom Sizemore only grossed $20 after it ran for six days at one theater (the only theater it played in). So I'd add that to my list.

Posted: 7/8/07 at 10:19pmI tried to see Dead Silence but the power randomly cut out in the theater about 20 minutes from the end... what I saw was really not that great. I think I actually ended up leaving the theater less afraid of dolls/puppets than I was when I went in. So yeah, unless you're trying to get over some kind of toy-phobia, count yourself lucky for overlooking Dead Silence. Of course, I didn't see the whole thing, which probably makes my opinion null & void.
Does the earth really spin around the sun?
What's it matter in the least?
What's real to me ain't real to everyone.

Mr. Brooks was superb.
Zodiac was also excellent.

I don't know how anyone can say that any of these films were "overlooked."
I mean, the majority of them are simple summer fare at the movies. Will broadway86 not rest until each and every one of them is nominated for Best Picture?

Scoundrel-
The "/" in "Underrated/Underseen" suggests that I meant either or.
"Disturbia" made money, yes, but I think it's a better movie than people gave it credit for.
But Grindhouse, Black Snake Moan, and Music and Lyrics were horrible.
Wrong.

Dead silence wasn't a comedy? Wow, live and learn. And least the guy was cute.
There was this movie that starred Kal Penn called The Namesake that was really good.
Also, Black Sheep was a hoot in a campy horror kind of way.

Posted: 7/9/07 at 11:10pmBLACK BOOK was completely amazing, but I think that it technically counts as 2006. I believe (though I could be wrong) that it was eligibe at LAST year's Oscar ceremony...but didn't get the nod. I could be TOTALLY wrong, but I'm almost positive that I read that.
