What's with the long pants and bermuda-style shorts on the men swimmers? Whatever became of speedos? They've runied the only sport that interested me enough to watch.

Is it just me or does the coverage on NBC really suck this year? It's like they're trying to rush through some events. I also don't understand why they would get Ryan Seacrest of all people to do interviews. The man is everywhere and not in a good way.

Women's gymnastics was a surprise yesterday with Aly Raisman making the All Around competition and Jordyn Weiber did not. But, Aly did fantastic, so no complaints there. But, it does make me realize it is sort of unfair how only 2 athletes per country is if more than 2 are at the top. I understand that they don't want teams dominating it, but Jordyn was #4 all together and it is kind of a slap in the face to her and the other girls who were #3 on their teams, but made the top 24.

I finally watched last night's events. I was very happy for Dana Vollmer, Brendan Hansen, and two American divers. I felt very sad for Jordyn Wieber
when she did not qualify for the All-Around Finals in Gymnastics.
ETA: Even though Allison Scmitt barely missed the Gold it was great she got Silver. I also completely forgot about the relay race. I still enjoyed it even though I wanted the Americans to win.

I felt so bad for Jordyn Weiber. The rule of 2 is stupid! The Olympics should be about the best in the world. You can't say you beat the best, if the all of the best aren't allowed to compete. There were athletes from other countries impacted by this stupid rule as well. It just makes no sense; the top 24 should compete period!!

I agree about Jordyn Weiber. She happens to be the best American gymnast. So she had a bad day. Gabby had a good day so she gets to compete and Jordyn doesn't. It's a matter of luck on that particular day and that particular event.

Anyone else catch NBC's complete spoiler of Missy Franklin's race? In the commercial break right before she won the gold they had a commercial advertising "Who do you want to see after you win the gold medal?" -- for her seeing her parents.
My wife had spent all day trying not to get spoiled for that race. She turned to me and asked, "Did they just ruin that? She got the gold, didn't she?"
NBC sucks at Olympics coverage.

Yeah, they aren't waiting to talk about stuff this year. The 6pm news they are like, "this is a spoiler, don't listen if you plan to watch later." WTF is that? I could see if we were watching a broadcast from London, but this is New York. You can't wait 6 hours to report on the Olympic events that did not air over here during the day?

These days I feel like it's really hard not to have all the major events spoiled. If I log onto my computer, turn on the news, listen to NPR, even check my cell phone sometimes since I get news alerts, I find out the results.
Perhaps NBC needs to do reinvent the way the Olympics are covered and show all these events live. It's not like they're on at a terrible time. Most of the "big events" are on during the late evening London time which is mid to late afternoon for us. No, it isn't ideal, but people will tune in.
Then, the evening broadcast can be more of a highlights show with more focus on interviews and other interesting content. I know the big money is in primetime advertising so it will never happen and people would likely just DVR the live coverage then watch it sans commercials, but I think it's a nice idea.

The coverage is totally incompetent and boring. They showed Franklin's heat in the 200 free. They announced about fifty times how she had to swim in the final just 15 minutes later. then during the next six hours of coverage they did not show the gold metal race. It was shown another time.

I understand that the The Men's gymnastics team ended up in 5th place, but what was that with the 11 o'clock hour? They weren't shown at all. Great for China and no issues showing them winning, but shame on NBC for giving up on our team.
