Anyone still watching this once great show?

Last night was the third to last episode. They wrapped up the main storyline- Jack recovered the bioweapon, and all seemed well. The plotlines, for the most part, were taken care of.

But.....the writers seemed to realize, "Oh sh*t! We still have two hours to go!" So, now we have two hours next week of a completely irrelevant, been-there, done-that plot of Jack's daughter being unknowingly held hostage at an airport.

The whole thing feels incredibly tacked on, and we're going to have to endure more of "Jack goes rogue."

I mean, really...there is no reason for this ridiculous diversion other than they had time to kill.

The sad thing is, the writers had a LOT of time to plan this season with the strike, and then a year-long hiatus.

Sigh.

I haven't seen last night's episode yet. I still enjoy the show, although I'm not happy about what's become of Tony.

I would assume Kim has to be "held up" in DC so she can help Jack with the experimental surgery to save his life...although, like I said, I haven't seen last night's ep yet to see if this has been handled.

I can never quite give up on this show, even after last season started out so promising, and quickly tanked. And Aaron Pierce is a god.

Kim is "held up," but not because of a flight delay. She's being held up, but it's an entirely different sort of holdup.

Is next week the finale, then?

Okay...spoiler alert would've been nice as I wont see last nights episode until later, but in TV guide they hinted that the show wouldnt go out with a bang, and that Kim is to blame (one of the most hated characters ever.)

I think Television Without Pity has the best name for Kim....over there, she is referred to as Spawn, and they take great pleasure in blaming anything that goes wrong on her.

Adam...in the first few seasons everything that happened WAS her fault!

This season Jack's exposure to the biochemical has been my least favorite (and tired) plot line...and it's gonna bring Kimmy back...and her spawn of the spawn.

As for the original comment that they've run out of ideas with two hours to go, 24 has always wrapped up its most crucial plot line in the penulitmate episode. As for comparing this season to others, it's better than the last full season, but nowhere near as good as the year that Gregory Itzkin and Jean Smart dominated as Charles and Martha Logan. That was an outstanding season, and fans of 24 will always try to hold the show up to that standard.

I stopped watching this season simply because I was sick of the recycling of ideas in this show. This show used to be AMAZING, season 5 anyone? Jean Smart was BRILLIANT in it. It's sad this show dove off the cliff.

OK, I just watched it. Yeah, Kim serves her purpose as Jack's Achilles Heel. Remember he said that Tony used the brother as leverage because "that's what I would do." Tony learned from the best.
And I know I'm supposed to hate Tony, but I just can't.
I enjoyed this season. Last season nonwithstanding, I always like this show.

24 is the best show on TV hands down.

Tony is a bad man. A very, very BAD man.

LOVE Cherry as the Prez. The first daughter is gonna go down BIG time.

CSI is the show that drove off the cliff, smashed into Lake Meade and got eaten by a shark.

Yes I am quite aware there are no sharks in in said lake.

I was merely being bitter.

Spawn is pursuing suspects now? Lord.

Oh my gosh.....she just pulled out her "I used to work at CTU!" line. Because she was sooooo effective in that position!

***SPOILER ALERT***

I thought the twist that Tony was going to use Jack to reconstitute the pathogen was pretty effective. What do we think the outcomes will be to the cliffhangers? Has Rene crossed over to the dark side, and will she torture Wilson, or will her conscience kick in? Who will survive the procedures to try and save Jack? My guess is that they could kill off Kim, and give Jack one more thing to feel guilty about. If Jack survives, will he become a Muslim?

SPOILERS.......

-Based on what we know about next season, Jack and Kim both apparently survive. There is talk of Kim returning full-time next year.

-Next year's events will be set in NY, involving a plot at the United Nations, which actually sounds really intriguing.

-Renee is returning, and is apparently going to be romantically linked to Jack.

-President Taylor will be back (and I would guess, Ethan will be too), and in the interim between seasons has had C.T.U. re-commissioned.

My speculation is that Jack and Renee will be running CTU's NY office, with Chloe possibly being their lead systems analyst.

If I were Mary Lynn Rajskub, I'd be worried....she's now appeared in more episodes than anyone but Jack, and has been on since season 3....she seems ripe to be killed off soon. Yet another storyline where Jack could lose a friend.

Charlie Brooker's got some great ideas involving terriers, roundabouts, and all sorts of things. They should look into getting him onboard as a writer. Hell, *I'd* watch 24 if they got Charlie Brooker onboard as a writer!
