25 years of Elvira

So, it's been 25 years now since Ms. Peterson began playing the character. I've always really loved her, ever since I first saw the original Elvira movie when I was a kid. She seems to have so much fun with the whole thing. It doesn't hurt that she's always been a staunch supporter of gays rights.

i love Elvira too!!

i was just cracking up the other day remembering her saying "...& we'll be back after these messages, with THE HEAD WITH TWO THINGS...er, i mean THE THING WITH TWO HEADS!!!"

I started watching her host crappy horror movies on a local T.V. station out here in Los Angeles. She would make them fun to watch.

Her movie is a HOOT!!! When she finally gets her own Las Vegas show at the end of the movie.. I almost wet myself from laughter!!

There's few people I adore more than her. My personalized signed movie poster that hangs over my bed is my most prized possession. I have the movie in my iPhone so I never have to go anywhere without it.

Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira was the youngest showgirl in Vegas at 17 in 1967. She saw Ann Margret in Viva Las Vegas and got inspired. She said she spent an evening with Elvis sitting at the piano and he encouraged her to take singing lessons.

And one time she slept with Tom jones and had to go get stitches at the hospital afterwards. And she would tape a fake eye to her chest when Sammy Davis came by

She's just a cool lady from way back.

Don't forget her one season reality show Search for the Next Elvira where she allowed a drag queen to compete for the prize of appearing as Elvira for a year at public events. Sure, he went home first, but she was okay with a man filling her shoes.

I've talked to her a few times at horror conventions over the years and she's genuinely one of the nicest celebrities I've encountered. I wish she got to the east coast more but I understand that her life is based in LA at this point.
