3D version of "Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1" cancelled

Warner Bros. will not be releasing 'Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1' in 3D. There was not enough time for the 3D version to be completed by the film's release date. “We do not want to disappoint fans who have long anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey,” said the statement. As such, Part 1 will only be in conventional and IMAX theaters. My parents will be glad to hear this because they don't like 3D movies.

I hate 3D so this works for me. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!

I'm so happy to hear this. The addition of 3D is just unnecessary.

Even if it was released in 3-D, isn't there always a 2-D version released, too?

Then when is everyone acting like seeing it in 3-D was compulsory?

It's not compulsory, but it seems the bulk of screenings are in 3D and sometimes, I've been stuck with 3D.

They should sell permanent 3 D glasses as a one time expense instead of tacking on $4 a pop to rent them for every movie. This will kill the 3 D craze faster than anything, Eventually there may be 3 d without glasses but that is way down the line.

If a movie is not shot in 3 D, it is not the same as it being in 3 D from its inception. Cash Of The Titans proved that. So far except for Avatar & A Christmas Carol the few I have seen in 3 D were not worth the added expense.

Also speaking as a former movie employee, we let our patrons keep their glasses. You would think the next time would lead to more people buying tickets to a 2-D film with glasses in possession and just being sneaky and theater hop to the 3-D showing, but it hasn't- at least in the theater I worked in.

Where are you finding an $8 surcharge? NYC has the most expensive additional charge in the country, and that's only $5.
