54 years later Father still Knows Best

54 years later Father still Knows Best

WOOHOO, season one of Father Knows Best apparently (according to my local paper)is in stores now.

I grew up with this show, and loved it...loved Jane Wyatt, I still can hear her calling "Bud".......(what is scary is that the show is younger than me, eek.)

RUN, do not walk and buy this...it's a treasure.......(now when is the Donna reed show coming out??)

I used to bathe with my father. He always told me not to tell, but I guess it's ok to say it now.

The charming Elinor Donahue is on "The Frank DeCaro Show" now being interviewed for the DVD.

BTW she is very funny playing Miriam Welby [get the joke?] on THE ODD COUPLE as Felix's girlfriend.
Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?

re: 54 years later Father still Knows Best

I think "Father Knows Best" is one of the best of the 50's family sitcoms. The title was not always true of the episode of the week - Father was sometimes wrong - sometimes Mother or even one of the kids knew best. I especially liked the character of the son, Bud. He was often the butt of jokes, but his dignity was intact, and the part was so well-acted by Billy Gray. That guy should have had a bigger career. I did read somewhere that he was actually cast in "Rebel Without a Cause" but the producers of FKB wouldn't shoot around him for the movie's filming, so he couldn't do it. (No doubt, a real impossibility at the time.)

It was a very sweet episode, mainly with Kathy.

As you probably know Billy Gray had been an actor from a child and I also thought he was very good. It probably hurt him greatly not to be in that film.
