"Gay people aren't like beanie babies or baseball cards, for Pete's sake!"
They're not? *slaps forehead*
Just teasing.....
Aw, I know. :)
If that were the case, my collection would be very small.

I went to college with a girl who declared herself the fag hag of our class. (At that time I was the only gay, and I couldn't stand her.) Anyway when another dude came out of the closet to another girl, she flew off the handle since as the self-appointed queen of the gays, she DESERVED to be told first.
I had a gay best friend before it became fashionable. It never occured to me that there was anything desirable about witnessing firsthand a 13-year-old Pakistani Muslim boy come to terms with his sexuality.

My best friend during my teenage years had a gay best friend I never met, whose sad life story and exploits she was always eager to share.
I honestly think she made him up.
Papa, Robbie said there wasn't a "SINGLE macho man on BWW." You're married, aren't you? Clearly that statement bypasses you.
I think the relationship being described is like many others: nobody much wants to be fetishized, for whatever reason. If it's a true, healthy friendship, gay and straight have very little to do with it. If it's not, then it feels icky.

I have friends that are gay, and would never dream of setting one up with someone else---but I'm open to the possibility! I hate shopping, but I did go to gay bars in the 80s/90s---a friend was a bartender there, and if he was slow, business wise, we'd talk...actually his partner and I would get pretty hammered, and then go bar-hopping. Ah, nostalgia...
