It bugs me to see commas instead of periods, when one is making an ellipsis.

The commas were poor grammar and worthy of criticism from a fellow writer ( I feel like I'm back at Gotham) They have been corrected.

"an ellipses" would be wrong, since the singular form is Ellipsis, the plural is Ellipses, and "an" indicates singular.
