I can't remember the last film I saw with such a unbearable sense of sadness, I was stifling audible sobs. But in saying that moments of joyous wonder, heartbreak and visual magic makes this a must see. It really is something very special

It really was unrelenting in its sadness but it was a gorgeous film with extraordinary performances.

Hello? No, it's "Munster"...with a "u"...we're not in the film.

It's so sad that this amazing movie bombed so severely at the box office. Especially considering that Monster Trucks made three times as much money in one weekend than this movie made in its entire run. You're seeing the wrong monster movie, America.

I can't believe that it under performed the way it did, it was something so different and special

The accent aside, I thought Sigourney Weaver was spectacular in her role as the Grandmother. Without spoiler (hopefully), one of my favorite scenes was the one where Connor unleashes his anger and destroys a significant article within in the room.
I don't know whether it was a result of the script, direction, or Weaver's acting choice, but I thought the way she played that scene was genius. I'm always impressed by actors who can convincingly convey so much of a character in the absence of dialog.

Yes, that scene was brilliantly played.

Yeah, I would have put money on her receiving another Oscar nomination based on that scene, alone.

Not surprisingly, parents would rather take their kids to see a movie about how their dead dogs will be reborn and come back to them, rather than one that deals with loss and grief and guilt in a mature and sensitive manner.

I saw it this weekend as well and I was wiping away many tears by the end. What a beautiful film. Hope others take the opportunity to see it now that it's available on DVD.
