Im auditioning for "Millie" in the summer...
Im a dancer, but is "Millie" a good ensemble show?

And any suggestions for vocal auditions would be nice!

Millie is a great dancer ensemble show, but mostly directed towards the females; however, the men parts are good too.

Thanks, and yes I thought about that, but I'm better than most male dancers for my age, so maybe I would be featured then (which often happens)?

My other choice is Seussical, which I've been cast as a Wickersham Bro.

Millie is a great dance ensemble show, especially if you're a tapper. And just for the record, when I was in Millie, the boys got to do more than the girls (but that was because they split the female ensemble in two).

And I might be biased... but dear god, Seussical is AWFUL, I HATE that show. Do Millie!

Yeah there is a lot of dancing opportunities, mostly for tap dancing for the boys.

The songs seem like pretty traditional musical 1920's sound, for an audition maybe look at something from the Gershwins.

Anything by Gershwin, Rodgers & Hart, or early Cole Porter and Irving Berlin.
A musical in which you may be able to find material is Bernstein's "Wonderful Town". It has a similar premise and style.

A lot of theatres are doing Millie this summer...

When I did it I used a Cole Porter song. I may be biased since I was Millie, but it's SUCH A FUN SHOW!! All the ensemble members had a blast, and it's tap tap tap tapping all the way through. Watch the movie, then buy the CD.

i just finished millie! i was Jimmy Smith, but im a dancer and i was so bummed b/c EVERYONE else got to dance haha! but the dancing is amazing! best dancing show i have been in!

Bwaylovesong which Cole Porter song did you sing?

Also, I am considering something from 42nd Street. The shows have a similar sound I thought. Any thoughts?

I never auditioned for Millie, but I would recommend...

For a girl- "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Delovely", "Anything Goes"
For a guy- "Too Darn Hot", "Begin the Beguine", "You're The Top"

42nd Street is a good show to find audition material from.

Oh, I didn't play Millie, I was just in the ensemble. And our school used cuts from the show for audition music. Sorry not to be of more help.
