One of the last of the Golden Age stars, Not to mention one of the last of the Gone With The Wind cast! Happy Birthday!
I do hope her autobiography will be released as scheduled this august!

Birthday Greetings, Melly!
With Joan Fontaine still alive at 93, I'm pretty convinced spite can be an aid to longevity.
Happy Birthday, Ms.DeHavilland - you are a true class act!
When she introduced some segment at the Oscars a few years ago, I remember thinking how much she outshone the modern stars, even with only a short introduction - that's how it's done, kids. I actually wrote her a fan letter around that time...still to receive a response, but you never know, I like to think she read it!
No word on her book coming out this year. Nothing on Amazon. All I could find was this from 2 years ago.

Jay-Z: About 10 years ago I wrote a fan letter to Joan Fontaine and got back a beautifully written postcard response from her thanking me for my kind words. Actually I fan lettered her, Doris Day and Katharine Hepburn all around the same time, and, surprisingly, got responses from all three. Got them in frames on the wall. Good luck with Olivia.
