In memory of Old Codger, my dog I had to put down recently, I rescued another Pom. I think her name is going to be Waltzing Matilda. This is due to her sway when we go for walks , which she adores, having never really gone on one before. She was a victim of a back yard breeder in AZ and spent her 4 years of life unsocialized , in a cage. She is grossly overweight, seems the breeder just dumped massive amounts of kibble in the dog's troughs and left them at it.
It has been a rough couple of days but she is coming around to people. She has to, she is around them 24/7!
A plead to folks considering getting a dog. DO NOT BUY THEM FROM PET SHOPS! These breeders are horrific! Look to adopt. A puppy is a puppy for only a short while. A true companion is one who is for life.

That's exciting. Poor thing though. Glad to hear she's coming around.
I think you just need to post the link to your photo in the message space.

Ladies and Gentlemen Waltzing Matilda!
She is such a sweet girl but because she was used in a puppy mill she is not socialized with people at all. I have been working really hard with her and she has just started letting me approach and pet her. We are building trust. Like with my other rescue Keenan, who was in an abusive home for 12 years she will take time. Keenan has just stopped flinching when you reach out to scratch him.

Thanks Phyllis, She is just such a sweet soul. You cannot believe the joy in her when she is told she is going out for a walk! I guess a life in a cage makes you cherish the great outdoors!
