Spaghettios? Mashed Potatoes?! Maybe I should try those. I was afraid they would sting, or something...

No...but I heard from a reliable source that someone who had gotten their tonsils removed tried to sneak eggs and THAT stung re: A word about tonsillectomies....

I'm bumping this because I'm getting my tonsils out on the 27th, at the age of 20.

The big problem is, is that I'm a singer, and I have an opera audition 3 weeks after I get them out....eeek. But I need them out!

So, anyways, thanks for all that has already been said, it helps to know these things..and if you have any words of advice or what not send them my way!

Hopefully, the operation goes smoothly and they don't damage your voice like that quack did to Julie.

Oh man, I had mine out at 16. It was 2 weeks of pain. "Oh you'll eat plenty of ice cream", bull sh*t!!! I barely ate or drank anything for almost 2 weeks, and then nothing tasted right for a few more weeks. I can say, though, I have barely had any major throat problems or pain in the past 7 years, so it was worth it.

Good luck!

my cousin tony informed me today that he's having his tonsils removed after the first of the year when he gets health insurence.
he was using clorseptic spray the whole two days he was with us so my mom made him go to the doctor when he got back to RI.

Now, SM, don't scare Stephanie unnecessarily. Andrews' surgery was completely different - it was to remove nodes that had developed from years of misuse. Her voice was already half gone from lack of proper care, plus she was much older and it would have been starting its age-related decline anyway.
