LOL LOL!! Sofia Vergara is ridiculously hot. I remember watching that horrible candid camera type show she used to host on one of the Spanish channels when I was a kid and hearing pretty much every boy I had a crush in class swoon over her.

I just found out she's the equivalent of the Mary Alice character on the Colombian/Ecuadorian version of "Desperate Housewives."

She is truly one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.

People just look for stuff to be outraged about. Last week it was that Liz Lemmon isn't a very good feminist role model.

Seriously? I read a critique once of 30 Rock that it was right-wing claptrap because Jack always comes out smelling like a rose and Liz always looks like a buffoon.

As I said, I hadn't particularly registered the non-kissness, but probably largely because I don't expect to see gay men kiss on television; I've been conditioned not to.

The only reason I think it's not a ridiculous discussion is that the cast on GMA yesterday pretty much said that yes, it's a big deal, and yes, they're working up to it, so (wait for it) everyone needs to be patient.

In other words, I don't think perturbed viewers are making this up. It's a fact of the show and one the creators are aware of.

Oh, I don't think it's ridiculous, at least at the base level. I think getting whacked out over it(like the writer who called the gay couple on Brothers and Sisters "amazing!") is.

I think there's so much positive about the show and Cam and Mitchell that's it non-issue for me. But I know that there's also an argument that Cam and Mitchell DON'T represent gay people well or whatever.

I never noticed that they haven't kissed, and it doesn't bother me in the least.

And these people that are complaining about the depiction of gays should just STFU. EVERY episode is not going to please EVRYONE. Why can't they just be happy that they have gay characters on the show that aren't murderers or molesters and are actually funny and likeable?

Mitchell & Cam are being presented as any other couple with their first infant. They're harried, they're tired, they're adjusting to life with a baby, they're arguing about their views on what's best. The absence of PDAs fits well with that portrayal. Sure, the other couples are also raising kids, but the physical stress with an infant is far greater than that with teens or tweens.

Realistically, Mitchell would not kiss Cam in an airport, in front of his dad, sister, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is too uptight.

He will not kiss me in the air,
he will not kiss me in front of Claire,
he will not kiss me in a jam,
he will not kiss me, Cam I am.

With the exception of the Hawaii episode, how often did the other couples kiss? This reeks of GLAAD hysteria. Leave it to the gays to bemoan the lack of diversity in the gay community. If they kiss, they kiss. If they don't, they don't. Sounds like married people to me.

Not arguing, but as I said, my straight friend was the one who brought it to my attention--before either of us had heard any brouhaha in the press.

But maybe she's oversensitive because she has close gay friends.

Much ado about almost nothing.

I would like to see them kiss upon coming home from work, or leaving for work (perhaps that scenario hasnt happened?)
It would seem unnatural if my husband came home and didnt kiss me hello, goodbye or goodnight. We dont, however, need to makeout every time we see each other after 16 years.

PDAs, no...they already show how uptight Mitchell is. It would be totally out of character for him even if he was straight.

Stonestreet: Modern Family Facebook Gay-Kiss Campaign Is ‘Wasted Energy’

Modern Family is capping off a great year: It received a Peabody Award yesterday at the Waldorf Astoria, and Kobe Bryant is making a guest appearance in tomorrow's season finale (the Lakers star is a huge fan of the show). The only cloud on the show's horizon is a Facebook campaign demanding that gay characters Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) share an onscreen kiss.

Creator Steve Levitan, who issued a statement in response asking fans to "please chillax," told us: "It's hard when you're in our position because we don't want to sound defensive about it. Everything we're doing, we feel like we're doing for character reasons. There is an episode that addresses it next season that we had in the works anyway, so I think that it'll all pass soon."

Stonestreet, who called the Facebook group "wasted energy," was less calm: "We're a show that obviously is forward- and progressive-thinking," the star told us. "To adopt a baby on prime-time television is way more taboo than a kiss, and obviously Mitchell and Cameron are going to experience everything in their relationship. Unfortunately, I've been tweeted and sent messages saying that because I'm straight, I don't get to have an opinion on that, which really disappoints me. I play the character and I think I get to have an opinion on it."

Tempest. Teapot. All the gays I know love the show.

Something being cooked up by ABC Publicity maybe.

Eric Stonestreet should not weigh in, as it were. Nobody from the show should. Modern Family is the polar opposite from the mean-spririted Will & Grace, which just showed sniping gay men trashing each other to their faces all the time, with no believable sources of love or joy in their lives.

The show is obviously coming from a loving place, as are the characters. Let that speak for itself.

I'm not gay, but I have to admit I did notice that they haven't kissed. Honestly, I'm not disturbed that they haven't, I wouldn't be if they did. As many have said on here, I think it's great that there's ANY TV show on that has such positive gay characters who are CLEARLY in a loving, committed relationship. Showingthe physical affection or not showing it does absolutely nothing to diminish the relationship the two have.

Have Jay and Gloria kissed? I'm not so sure they have -- where's the outcry over that?

The three relationships are treated with absolute equality on the show -- I think it's a publicity stunt by someone that such a big deal is being made of what, at least as far as I can see, is pretty much a non-issue.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson says in the 5/24 issue of New York Magazine:

"I'm very protective of Mitchell and Cameron, of their relationship. I would like to see them show more physical affection - we film scenes several ways, including kisses - but at the same time we're moving cautiously, because it's sort of a gay Trojan horse in people's living rooms."

JTF's comment seems to me to underline what I said before: this isn't something being projected onto the series by over-sensitive gay guys and their homo-loving gal pals.

It still doesn't trump the truly wonderful fact of Cam and Mitchell's realtionship being on a hit prime time show. But it is what it is.
