Also, I really have to say I think (so far at least from what they've shown) they have some of the most talented people competing this year that they have maybe ever had. It looks like they have a higher standard for who can go through which is so necessary so they won't wind up with another Sanjaya.

I am very pleased with what they're showing so far.......more of the good ones going through than that of the ridiculous - don't you think? It seems they are cutting more and more of the bad, I really think they could go a little further and cut the "NO" answer when it is obvious unless they had something very clever to add to their NO.

Me too........he's really awesome. I really thought the judges were going to be terrible, but I've been so happily surprised. I think everyone really likes them.

I think Randy is trying to hard to be the new Simon. I am loving Steven Tyler as a judge and JLo is just eh...she doesn't do anything special for the show.
I have seen a few singers that I really liked so far but I hate that they lowered the age limit, they should have raised it to 30.

I have RSD...but it doesn't have me!!!!

Why did they post an apology from Steven Tyler for comments made last week at the beginning of tonight's episode? I don't remember him saying anything that warranted an apology.

I hung out with Cheyenne Jackson in his dressing room waayyyyyy before he tickled D2.

I think it was the *** a duck and see what hatches thing. But I also sort of think it was tongue and cheek, because really. The auditions were taped ages ago, and if they didn't want that in there they could have edited it out.

I like Tyler and Lopez, but I hate the fact that the producers start feeding us the personal stories of selected singers. It's an incredibly unfair advantage. I know, it's nothing new, but it's still my biggest complaint about the show. Just show me the auditions, and leave out the up close & personal stories.

Not to sound like a total b*tch, but I'm surprised so many people thought the apology at the top of the show was serious. It was meant to be a joke. They showed it and then showed Tyler being inappropriate.

I don't know about this season. I think they are sending too many people to Hollywood. That girl last night in the beginning that was crying shouldn't have made it through and neither should the girl who was in love with Ryan, there was nothing spectacular with their voices. My brother said it last night, if Simon was there neither of those girls would have gotten through.

I don't think anymore people are getting through than in past seasons. I think they are definitely showing us more of the people who are getting through rather than subjecting us to all of the endless terrible auditions that they used to show.

As far as those two girls getting through...yes, they were marginal at best and will probably be eliminated in Hollywood.

Simon didn't always make the best decisions. In previous seasons he has backed and supported some marginally talented contestants...and even contestants that turned out to be talent free through to the semi-finals and further. Paige Miles was a disaster last year and Simon kept saying she had the best voice in the competition.

I agree w/ madbrian - I hate the background stories. They are such BS anyway........turns out the cowboy that they were touting as such a "genuine" guy actually already recorded music (but I also agree w/Tom, he is hawt!).

The disclaimer was just a joke and I found it to be quite funny myself.

I felt like they were on the right track this time of showing us more of the talent going through and less of the gargage - but the LA auditions took them right back to showing more trash than talent. Very dissappointed in that.

Tom, you're right. Simon didn't want to put Chris Daughtry through to Hollywood either, and he's sold more albums than any one else of that season.

Hollywood begins tonight. So glad that the audition phase is over. The auditions last night only gave us one stand out and of course he has a sob story.

He mad me cry hard, too. I also thought the girl who played the guitar was fabulous. She won't make it far but I adored her voice as well as he girl who sang Summertime.

I think the girl who sang Summertime oversang it, and the judges should bave put her though but cautioned her about it. That last guy seemed like and odd mix of Adam Lambert's voice and Crystal Bowersox's earthiness.

My daughters' friend made it through to Hollywood, even though we didn't get to see her audition on TV. We're hoping to see her tonight.
