I don't hate anyone...

I'm just tired of the pointless arguments, when there is SO MUCH more to be concerned about in this world.

It's all a choice of picking your battles.

And besides, YOU called her tramp-o-rama....

Papa, are you really criticizing me for working in that store? I don't buy the shirts -- sometimes I laugh at what they say, but I don't think they're appropriate to sell, especially with the age groups that come into the store. When asked what they should buy, I never tell customers to buy them. And so you're berating me for working there despite all this?

"so while it's wrong for the store to sell them, you see nothing wrong in someone profiting from what you call demeaning?"

Oh yeah, I'm sure my minimum wage paycheck is definitely enough to say I'm 'profiting' from it all. Papa loves mambo, but he clearly loves stupid comments as well.

yep. i am. if you don't think they are appropriate to sell, why would you want to work in a place that sells them? it's not like that's the only place on earth where you cold get a minimum wage job. it's like someone complaining about the horrors the chinese inflict upon their workers while shopping at walmart. if you don't mind them, that's great, but if you're going to complain about someone's practices, then ya can't take their money. see, people don't take you seriously when you do things like that. and people who defend your working there while demanding that they stop selling what they do is a whole new level of stupidity.

and i stand by that statement, diva, i just wondered why everyone else felt that way.

I understand what you're saying, papa, but at the same time, no company/job is going to be perfect, and though I think the shirts are stupid, they're not enough to make me leave. I don't endorse them and I think those who buy them are a bunch of fools who are never going to get a single girl by wearing those shirts. But the other pros of working there -- great people, fun environment, not dififcult -- outweigh a few shirts which I think are in bad taste.

To each his own, and God bless us, everyone.

I had the same thoughts MotorTink...I thought it was going to be a couple of pages of jokes and that would be the end...

volleyballer, not liking a food item at a restaurant you work at and finding your company morally reprehensible for the products they sell and endorse are quite different. I mean, heck, do whatever the hell you want, but you have to recognize the distinction.

I'm one of the ones who doesn't see anything wrong with these t-shirts. They are meant to elicit laughs, not orgasms. I was more concerned with how they sold those awful Asian stereotypes (although they pulled those). I'd also be concerned with their out of court settlement of a huge discrimination lawsuit, and if the company is changing that reputation or not. Those seem to point to a deeper problem than marketing sexual inuendo to people who get the joke.

"finding your company morally reprehensible for the products they sell..."

Pinguin, I see your point, and it's here that I realize what I'm not getting across. I think the shirts are ridiculously stupid, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're morally wrong or corrupting the youth. They're just stupid shirts and I think the guys who wear them are tools. If Hollister stopped selling them, or if they continued to, it'd make no difference to me. I'm just saying that I dislike some of our shirts that attract dumbasses; that's about it. :)

So, you think I'm a "tool" or a "dumbass," since I said I'd buy one of these shirts? Buy yourself a sense of humor.

Hey, SM, some of them are funny, I don't deny. But the goons that come into the store hoping to score a girl with them are just fooling themselves.

Well the goons have a lot more important problems to worry about if they actually think a "funny" shirt will get them to score with a chick.

It's not a chick I want to score.
