I'm curious to know if Adam Pascal didn't look like he does, would so many be so in love with him - I saw him in Rent on Broadway many many times and yes back then he was a good looking man (personally I think his age really shows now, but again my opinion), but still do you all love his two albums because its good music or because its by the HOT Adam Pascal - Be honest, cos I though The Adam Pascal Band was better than either of his two solo attempts. "Civilian" was hard to find a song with feeling for me at least.
Honest.
Here's how it happened, totally honest.
The first time I saw him in AIDA, I'm not going to lie -- he didn't look that great. Sure, he was cute, but he really didn't look his best. I loved the show, but I truly didn't pay him much mind at all. I bought the CD the next day, and I remember listening to it and latching on to that voice. It wasn't until a few months later that I started finding pictures.
It was his vocals that got me first, looks second. And yes, I do think his CD's are good, and that he writes well. If he were just gorgeous to look at, and nothing else, he would hardly be worth it. Would I listen to him sing if he couldn't do so, just because he's pretty? God no.

I didn't know who he was for like... six months. I just thought that 'Roger' had the best voice on the Rent cast recording.
I first time I ever heard Adam's voice (without realizing who it was) was when I listening to "Light My Candle" from the original Rent. I completely fell in love with his voice. Then I realized that he was in School of Rock, hehe.
I saw Rent at the end of '98 so sadly missed the OBC but right away bought the OBCR and fell in love w/ his singing voice. Then saw him in Aida, again loved seeing him in it and loved to listen to him on the Aida OBCR. I'm pretty sure it wasn't until after falling in love w/ both of these CDs that I began noticing and appreciating his looks.

Heh. I'm with insomniak. I've been a Rent fan for a little while (not nearly as long as most people here, though), but I never gave him more thought than the "guy with the good voice on the OBCR." I didn't know what he looked like until I saw the movie.
I guess that doesn't really answer the question, though. To be completely honest, and maybe some of my fellow fans will hate me for saying this, but I don't think I would have ended up liking him as much as I do now if he weren't attractive. Actually, perhaps I should say that I wouldn't have become as interested in him as I did if he were ugly, *therefore* not enabling me to like him as much as I do now. Either way, I think his looks played a role in making me interested in him more than "just Roger on the OBCR," but I have an extreme appreciation for his talent as well. It's a bit hard to continue a fandom of a singer if he weren't good.

The Adam Love Thread was a definet bonding point for me and a few (sadly gone) others. I miss amasis and QM and Ellie and Allie... oh, those were fun times. He gave us a nice basis for our jokes- I mean, with a fashion sense like that, what's not to laugh about?
I first saw him in School of Rock and didn't consider him incredibly good looking, but interesting and a good singer. I still think his looks are unconventional. When I saw Aida, it was his stage presence and magnetism that got to me more than anything else. His attractiveness is a combination of looks, presence, and talent. I like his two CD's very much, much more than clips I've heard from the APB, but it's impossible for me to disentangle my feelings about his music from my feelings about him at this point.
Allie should be around more often after the holidays, nia. I think that's what she said. I miss the old timers, too.
And yes, I'm not going to say that his looks don't have affect on how I feel about him, but he's not a toy to look at -- he's a person, with talent. That's what the root of this all comes down to.
The moment I saw him, I thought he was one of the most hottest guys I have ever seen. I still love him. Oh, and he's sooooo amazing. (singing, acting, etc.)
Marry me Adam... Wait, never mind.
I loved his voice way before I thought he was really attractive. To be quite honest, it was a Rent Blog (the one where he was talking about his family) that made me realize how truly gorgeous he is. I don't know why that was, but whatever.
I miss Allie, too! I hope the holidays are over soon.

I think "hateobnoxiousteens" is hinting at something with that screen name and I'm fairly certain he's a sock puppet.
Honey, you're not going to hear what you want to hear.
If I wanted plain hot, I'd loiter around Abercrombie.
I like that Chloe used the word "unconventional." So much about him is, and I think that in a nutshell, that's what draws me in to an actor. Unusual but good looks, unusual but beautiful vocals, and a personality that's quite unlike what you usually see on someone in the public eye. His brutal honesty is so rare and refreshing.

Hm, I didn't get that impresson from his/her post, despite the screenname. I'm sure this topic has been discussed various times for every good-looking Broadway star, but I find it at least somewhat interesting. ::shrug:: It seemed that hateobnoxious was just curious to me.

Well, the residents of Adam Love COULD conceivably be labeled 'obnoxious teens' and why would he ask that if he hadn't been around long enough to realize he's one of the more talked-about actors?
There's no way to prove it, though. I'm just not in a mood for any bull**** tonight.
I forgot to add that Civilian seems very heartfelt to me, especially I'm With You.
Abercrombie, nia? That's hysterical.
Abercrombie models ARE pretty.

There are shirtless guys on the bags and one of my friends cuts them out and hangs them on his wall.
Your sock puppet reasoning is impeccable.

Chloe, if I ever need a publicist or a professional morale booster, I'm hiring you.
Thanks, but it seems to be something I'm only good at online.
luvtheEmcee-- the EXACT same thing happened to me. I saw him Aida, went back home and listened to the soundtrack endlessly. I saw Rent in NYC 4 years later and discovered who he was more. Then I came to BWW. Got both his cd's, and fell in love. His attractiveness has nothing to do with it... but it is a HUGE bonus.
That voice did it for me right from the start. I love both his solo CD's, in addition to his earlier work with Wine and Vision, Mute and APB. His looks are just icing on the cake.
Oh and hatesobnoxiousteens, not all Adam fans are muppets.
