stop and think ..."what the hell was i focusing on while i was singing???"
I just had an audition and i was SO prepared for it. I had the songs memorized and down a month ago. For some reason I got very nervous as i started singing ( I think knowing that at the end of the song I had to hold the high C for half my life was a scary thing) and my voice went all over the place. I felt like i was listening to someone elses voice. It was lame and i had feeling disapointed after an audition.
and thats my story haha.

ya, that happens to me all the time. it's one of my major problems for auditioning. i don't know if this is what happens to you, but here's my story: i get so nervous, i stop breathing properly, and because i'm not breathing, my voice gets all shaky and pitchy. i end up sounding TERRIBLE! sigh. it's something i really need to work on.
That's pretty much exactly how I feel after every audition =).
I can sound really good when I practice my songs at home or by myself. I never usually have stage fright and I hardly ever get nervous about performing because I've been doing it since I was 3. Since my voice is not amazing, I loose confidence in myself and my voice starts going all over the place and I sound horrible.
I get sooo nervous before I audition or perform. When I audition the nerves get me and then when it's time to perform I PERFORM and i'm fine! All nerves are gone and I give it my all!
I think that's what it is for everybody,
Once you realize that they think you're good & have marketable talent, you can give it your all.
well yeahh lol but There are some actors who are better in rehearsals than on stage! Same with sports players. Some are great in rehearsal but aren't as good on the court. OR there's people both actors and jocks who rock it out both in rehearsal and performance time!

Ahh well one thing I do before auditions is I just imagine it as I'm going in to sing for some of my mom's friends or something. It sounds really stupid-but I'm almost never nervous on auditions anymore.
see, I get nervous and anxious like hell, buit I've found that I sing way better in front of people, especially when their judging me (Good thing for an actress!) It makes me want to show off and push to do my best to impress them
hurrah! i was very happy to see that other people are in the same boat as me.
Its so frustrating though because when I am home practicing sometimes i'm like yes yes good good i can do this. The second i open my mouth at the audition all breathing techniques go out the window. FLYING out the window.
Okay so part 2 to my post
anyone who manages to not be like this at auditions....share your words of wisdom please...i have callbacks on wednesday i dotn feel like messing up again :)
What I do is well A. Pray lol B. try not to think about it so much because I noticed when I start thinking about the lyrics to the words i tend to forget them so trust yourself! C. Have fun and when you get in there work the room...give it everything you've got because this is your moment to show-off your talent!
