To all...
"Baby Mama" is just slang. If you've ever used slang or anything that wasn't the King's English than you can't criticize the term.
I think a lot of people just don't like Fantasia and this song is just another way of venting those frustrations. Had Christina Aguilera put this song out it would've been "Hot" in that Paris Hilton way.
As I said before, it's easy to say what you would do in that situation. But you never know until you're in that situation. Fantasia's community was turnin' out baby mama's like hot cakes. Like many have stated, there is a need for education. Fantasia and many others may not have been afforded the same upbringing as many of the posters here.
Again, the song is not just about young girls getting knocked up. A divorced mother or mother who's spouse has died may go through the same things that Fantasia outlines in this song.
Fantasia Barrino - Baby Mama Lyrics
[chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas
It's about time we had our own song
Don't know what took so long
Cuz now-a-days it like a badge of honor
To be a baby mama
I see ya payin' ya bills
I see ya workin' ya job
I see ya goin' to school
And girl I know it's hard
And even though ya fed up
With makin' beds up
Girl, keep ya head up
All my
[chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas
I see you get that support check in the mail
Ya open it and your like "What the Hell"
You say "This ain't even half of daycare"
Sayin to yourself "This here ain't fair"
And all my girls who don't get no help
Who gotta do everything by yourself
Remeber: What don't kill you can you stronger
My baby mama...
[chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas
Cuz we the backbone (of the hood)
I always knew that (that we could)
We can go anywhere, we can do anything
I know we can make it if we dream
And I think it should be a holiday
For single mothers tryin' to make a way
But until then
Here is your song
Show love to my....
[chorus]
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
This goes out to all my baby mamas
B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A
This goes out to all my baby mamas
I got love for all my baby mamas

I agree with what a lot of folks have said here...
CONDOMS ARE CHEAPER THAN FORUMLA, FOLKS!
I know bad decisions are made. I know that those choices are learned from. However, I also know that glorifying a problem will not make it go away. "A badge of honor?" Do those who forget condoms and contract AIDS consider themselves "wearing a badge of honor?" Actually, it's just evidence of a poor decision.
Do I support compassion and care for single mothers? Absolutely. But part of that is preventing future single mothers by providing ACCURATE information about birth control. No, no birth control is completely fool-proof, but I'd rather take a gamble with the success rate of The Pill than the success rate of "um, let's just hope I'm not ovulating."

Yes, yes, but it's an excuse to leave work for a few minutes. That way I get a nice break, plus a super big gulp of paradise, AKA "DIET COKE."
