Dark_Angel: "The Magic of Judy Garland"
...with that cover art, more like The Magic Mushrooms of Judy Garland!!!
i put off the Carnegie Hall album for a long time; i knew it was over my head. before that, it wouldve just been a sullen clown wallowing in the drama....
last year was the first time i felt i could handle it & appreciate it.
since then, theres been some weeks when i didnt listen to anything else!
& theres been too many mornings where i jump out of bed & know i have ***GOT*** to hear THATS ENTERTAINMENT! even before the coffee's ready!
although i will never know the heights & depths Judy experienced, i treasure her & the large body of work she's left behind.
...& every one of those records, ANY ***ONE*** of those records, could SAVE! YOUR!! LIFE!!!!
This thread is fantastic! I am only 21 years old and can appreciate young and old Judy. My favorite album is actually the Carnegie Hall album and its my favorite because you can hear the joy in her voice and the audiences. She was trulley a one-of-a-kind performer, in my opinion, the BEST!

Gypsy - good for you! It's wonderful to know that her magic continues to live and breathe. And I agree - she was the best.
And can I just say that I love that my TinMan is woven into the middle of all her fabulousness here

there are still many Judy albums that havent be released on cd, arent there?
"Judy Takes Broadway" was released as "Judy Live" then went out of print again
Here is the album artwork sans my digital magic....
It was released in 1968 which would explain the artwork used. Everything had to be psychedelic then I guess.
I'm glad I started this thread. I knew you guys would appreciate it.

"you're *high* on judy!"
Well, Dark, you have to admit there IS a certain logic in that
Is it weird that I'm mostly interested in her older days of singing? I like my voices with a little wear.
Here's another psychedelic Lp cover. 1967's Greatest Hits compilation, "Over The Rainbow".
I love every facet of Judy Garland's career.
Here's a real gem. In the style of those "clown paintings" that best12 referred to earlier in the thread, this portrait of Judy was used on the cover of Capitol Records' Record Club Review brochure.

God, I love her. I'm not a gay male, so I feel a little out of the loop. I'm gonna have to go with the Carnegie Hall CD as being my favorite too.
This illustration graced the back of the Garland at the Grove Lp.
It's beautiful. Judy and her audience.
n69n! you just made me spit out my diet coke!
"rooty tooty nutcakes"?!!! and omg yes she does bear a slight resemblance to Zayna their!
Thanks Dark Angel. My computer crashed some time ago and I wasn't able to re-load all of my CDs onto my computer, and now I am longing to listen to some JG but I don't have her.
Ack! the horror.
Here's a closer look at that illustration.
That blows LittleFish. That happened to me once. But now I'm in the habit of backing everything up.
This is the front of the legendary "Judy Garland at The Grove" album
Who here has heard the "Purple People Eater" from Garland at the Grove?
I love those lightbulbs.
Not an album cover, but what became a legend most?
