re: American Girls Books/Dolls

'Scuse me, hon. Jewish, yeah, when I'm not flirting with agnosticism. But rich? Not exactly. There's a reason I was always staring at the catalog. :P

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

I stand corrected, Plum. Not all jewish girls are loaded.

Emcee, got a favorite book series?

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

yeah, i'm only 1/2 jewish and definitley not rich :) i pride myself on the fact that every one of my dolls came from a different relative or family friend. i have lots of clothes for them, most of which i bought myself or recieved as gifts, and a few beds, but those are so big that i've had them in the attic for a while.

Felicity. I'm a history geek, and that period was always one of my favorites. Plus, she loved horses, just like me. re: American Girls Books/Dolls

And I'm Jewish. Not loaded.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

Well, maybe Protestant girls are just poor.

Never been to the store, Nobiz. Is it nifty?

"Never been to the store, Nobiz. Is it nifty?"

They sing about the "care and keeping of friends", and stuff like that, so yah it's kind of overly touching and corny but I know probably 15 people who are in it so I've had to sit through it a few times! All the little girls looove it though

I still have my Samantha doll. I was a little old when I got her, but she was a gift since I looked JUST like that when I was little lol

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

Between me and my sister, we had every single doll. We were obsessed.

Did anyone ever have to send their doll to the "hospital"? They come back with a new head and a hospital gown. We had to do that for Molly because her hair just turned into a big nappy mess.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

Ok you guys aren't going to believe this, but I just spent an hour with my Felicity doll brushing her hair and reading her books!! LOL I am so dorky, but it was so much fun! I REALLY want to buy myself another doll, now. I remember it took me AGES to save up thr $82 she cost, and I always took extra care of her because it was my own money re: American Girls Books/Dolls

By the way, Blair, the EXACT same thing happened to my friends Molly doll!! That's really weird... Anyway, I need to save my money, because the Samantha Holiday movie is coming out on dvd and it was so cute I have to own it! LOL Okay I need to put my Lissie doll to bed now. Night! re: American Girls Books/Dolls

When did they change Samantha's hair? It looks like the same color as Molly's to me.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

AH! I loved American Girl stuff... I had a ton of the books, but I never had a doll. They were just too expensive for me to get and then never do anything with, really.

I always related to Molly the best.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

Nia, this Jewish girl is plenty poor. I saved for a year to buy my Molly doll, and then my aunt bought it for me out of pity.

yep, she's a slave girl right around the time of the civil war, who escapes and goes north and then has to deal with predjudice and stuff. oh, and her clothes are GORGEOUS. I especially love her Christmas dress re: American Girls Books/Dolls

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

No the current Samantha's hair is a few shades darker then Molly's. They changed her hair color after a few years, I think it was about 3 years into it. Most people have the darker haired version. My little sister has Samantha and when you put them next to one another there is quite a difference. We took my sis to the 5th Ave store when she was visiting this summer. We saw a little play and bought all sorts of ridiculous things for that doll that she never plays with (unless apparently shopping is involved)!

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

I got my Samantha doll when I was in 2nd grade. I'm 23 now, and I live hours away from my childhood home, where I left her.....But I know exactly where she is in my old room and what she's wearing (the spa robe set I bought on a whim 2 years ago) Some bonds are hard to break.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

Felicity, we have the exact same hair color. I saved up the $80 and bought her myself:) I use to bring her everywhere but I became scared of her when I saw the commercial's for chucky (she even cackled one morning), so she is now buried under stuff on a chair at the other end of my room. Yes, I am pathetic. I have this mini room I got from american girl, you can redecorate it and change it around, it's amazing.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

I had to send mine to the hospital once, because her head literally broke. It was horrible, I cried a LOT. Then we got her back, with a new head, which was great - because my doll, too, had gotten her hair into a nappy mess.

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

Although I gave up playing with my AG dolls when I was 11, I still have them in my closet. I have all 5 baby dolls, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha, Kit, and 2 Molly's. At one point, I owned everyone of Molly and Addy's outfits, and the entire baby doll wardrobe and play sets.

I was a spoiled one, huh?

re: American Girls Books/Dolls

I got my Kirsten doll for my birthday almost 17 years ago. I have most of the clothes and several of the accessories. Everytime they're in town my sisters and I have to make a pilgrimage to American Girl Place to visit all the nifty stuff.
My older sister has Felicity, the last time we were there we asked to make sure they're not discontinuing her since she's never in the catalog and they don't have much stuff for her. They said no, but I promised that if they do discontinue her I will run over to the store and buy all of Felicity's things for her.
