NOT REALLY A SPOLIER, but if you don't want to know anything about AI before you watch, then stop reading.
Does anyone else think that Fantasia sounds like Nell Carter? In general...not just tonight.
I don't think either one of them is doing very well right now in this show. Diana started off okay, but then just started shouting rather than singing. And this song that Fantasia just sang just didn't seem right.
I hope Fantasia does better with the next 2 songs.

I rarely check in with this show. But there's nothing else on right now. How can people take this seriously? I mean, if there's something even more middle of the road than "middle of the road" then these songs and arrangements and performers are it.
I just feel like I could dunk huge pieces of bread in American Idol and call it fondue.
I don't usually watch either, but Gilmore Girls has ended for the season. ![]()
Anyway, it is rather cheesy, but I'm okay with that. At least once in a while you might hear someone sing a good song.
I kept waiting for Barbra Streisand to jump out and join Diana singing Enough is Enough. It just doesn't sound right to me when it's not a duet.
Fantasia just nailed that last song! She's a great performer/singer.

And now for a heap of grated parmesan on your cheese, special guest, Mr. Mozzarella himself, Paul Anka. WTF? Was Don Ho busy?
Ryan said something to the effect of, "Hey, Paul, nice to see you again buddy." Yeah, like I'm going to believe Ryan Seacrest is buddies with Paul Anka.
These two ladies wouldn't have even cracked the top 3 if they were up again the other top 5 finalists from before (ok, with the exception of Justin Guarini. Oy.).
I think she sounds like eartha kitt.
I never got into AI until this season. It's cheesy and skewed, and I don't love most of the singers that make it through. But we may want to pay attention. The way things have been going, this might be the next crop of "name" Broadway guest stars. Frenchie Davis in Dreamgirls anyone?

Namo et al, I kept thinking as I watched ... wouldn't Paul Anka be just fabulous in a musical version of the life of David Gest? Titles, please.

"Liza, The Drunk Menace"?
It was so boring last night. And they both sounded terrible.
Namo, LOL. I'm just happy to be your straight man, you should 'scuse the expression.
I looove Fantasia! I thought she was fantastic last night! I think her voice is more Patti LaBelle than Macy Gray or Nell Carter...actually, she's probably more Stephanie Mills than all of them (for those of you who remember Stephanie). But anyways, if cutsie-poo DeGarmo wins, God help us.
Part of me hopes Diana wins only because the losers of the past years competitions have had better careers so far than the winners. And I really would like to see Fantasia go on to be a superstar.
I will say one thing. i think Diana was done in by a poor sound system and wathing it on TV laetr last night; poor camera work. He mike was screaching at the kodack last night. And if you watch the show closely you will notice Fantasias numbers were better photographed. Still it comes down to talent. Fantasia should win.
Dame, was LaToya in the audience last night? I saw the rest of the final 12, but not her for some reason.

If you really think about it, Diana has such a better voice! Fantasia can sing, but her voice can be very annoying. I loved how she sang the Peter Allen song, "Don't Cry Out Loud." Beth Fowler sings that song beautifully in The Boy From Oz.
Yeah, but Fantasia has a better chance at a long career. Absolutely amazing singing voices aren't the only thing it takes to make it in the business. I mean look at the Lord our God, Madonna. She doesn't come close to having the best singing voice in the world, but she is the most famous woman in it.
I think all the contetstants were there. It was so weird last night. I was last year at the finals and the exitement in the air was inccredible. Last night it felt like I was at a kids party in Burger king. I think this season will go down as the worst of the last 3 years.
The problem I see with Fantasia is she isn't the right style singer to be the generic pop singer the show wants to produce. She's got a cool Tina Turner sort of vibe but she's going to be packaged in a more mainstream and safe package and the songs she's going to be given aren't going to be the type she's best at. She's NOT a great singer in the traditional sense, her big notes are screams and they're not strong. The charisma she haves would be better served if she was working her way up in clubs with tight musicians and a good songwriter, doing something more organic.
Putting in my 2 cents-Fantasia is the whole package. She performs like a seasoned professional. Sure, her voice is a little annoying at times (I think it's like Nell Carter's) but that's what it is.
Diana can belt and smile, but she still can't move and command the stage yet. I'd have to go with Fantasia.
p.s. I don't think Diana's cute at all. Kind of piglet-like. As weird looking as Fantasia is, I like it!
The shows reviewer for The Advocate calls her Piggifer. A mix between Miss Piggy and Jennifer Lopez. Too funny.
LOL!!!!!!
