Read where Mario Vanquez has withdrawn from the competition on American Idol and has been replaced by Nikko, the singer from St. Louis who had been eliminated on Wednesday's broadcast. No information about the reason Mario withdrew although there is some specualtion that he might have been offered a management contract which is a 'no no' on A.I.
NOOOOOO!
With the exception of Anthony...Mario was my favorite!
NOOOOOO!
He had a very good chance of making it through to the end in my opinion.
NOOOOOO!
Did I mention he was a fox?
The fact that the Babs wanna be is still there is a total mystery

NIKKO SMITH RETURNS TO THE COMPETITION AS MARIO VAZQUEZ WITHDRAWS FROM “AMERICAN IDOL”
Smith Competes as Member of Top 12 Tuesday, March 15, on FOX
Recently eliminated semifinalist Nikko Smith has rejoined AMERICAN IDOL as Top 12 contestant Mario Vazquez has withdrawn from the competition for personal reasons. Smith was chosen to return because he received more votes than Travis Tucker during last week’s competition, when the men were reduced from 8 to 6 performers. He joins the competition immediately and will compete as a member of the Top 12.
The competition heats up when the guys (Bo Bice, Anthony Fedorov, Constantine Maroulis, Anwar Robinson, Scott Savol, Nikko Smith) and the girls (Lindsey Cardinale, Mikalah Gordon, Jessica Sierra, Vonzell Solomon, Nadia Turner, Carrie Underwood) compete head-to-head for the first time for the AMERICAN IDOL crown. They will take the stage together, singing for America, on Tuesday, March 15 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Tune in the following night to see who America has chosen to stay and who is sent home on the live results show Wednesday, March 16 (9:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
Eight-time Emmy-nominated AMERICAN IDOL is created and executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment; and executive-produced by Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Chief Operating Officer, Production, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.; Nigel Lythgoe, President, 19 Entertainment; and Ken Warwick, Executive Producer, FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

An End to American Idol's Gay Problem?

why did the other guy leave?

Wow, thats kind of surprising. He was probably one of the favorites to take the whole thing. Oh well, I wasn't a big fan, but I hope everything is ok.
GO ANTHONY!
Interesting article, Marquise. I doubt it was the gay speculation that led him to leave (but my guess is as good as anyone's). Seems curious though that it's always the front runners who get pegged with the "gay" label. Juatin...Clay...anyone remember that "Hercules" guy from season 2? And now this season, although I have to admit my gaydar swung towards a couple of other people which didn't include Anwar or Mario.
It seems to be a label put on ANY popular contestant or celebrity. Has there ever been a superstar male actor who hasn't raised suspicions?

Mario left cause he's gay? Aren't they all gay? (Except Scott Savol?)
I'm guessing he left because some producer wised up and said "Why wait to see if you win a contract to put out a crappy album with third rate writers and producers? Why not drop out, sign with me and put out a first rate album?" The prize is a record contract-- anyone would offer him that.
The biggest reward of appearing on American Idol is losing and putting out your own record.
the news article just stated he left for "personal reasons", though it doesn't go into exactly what those reasons are.
i wasn't really watching AI this year so I didn't even know who this kid was until this thread...

Well I'd say I was "Hoping" rather than "Kidding" but, no, I've seen nothing more risque than Mario hatless. I can hope though!

Maybe he realized what a hoax this whole thing is and realized he'd get more credibility on his own than with this show.
I read on MSN that it was because of family troubles, but who knows?
