In an office building in Orlando
Gateway Center Shooting: At Least 8 Shot In Orlando, Florida High-Rise
Trauma patients? WTF?
What a terrible, bloody week. I'm sending prayers all around.
The gunman is still on the loose inside the building. People are barricaded in their offices.
Omfg. Used to live a mile from this place. Very sad
The victims were TRAUMA PATIENTS?
As Taz said, WTF?
What a horrible, horrible crime.
Terrifying.
I hope they catch the gunman quickly... and I hope...
ETA: There are some conflicting reports regarding who the victims are, and how many. Regardless, even 1 victim is horrifying.
coming form a family of EMTs/nurses/CNAs/MHTs/other assorted medical people, in this case a trauma patient does not refer to a person's state of mind, like, for example, a patient beeing treated for PTSD. in this case i'm fairly certain that they mean the people who were shot are in bad condition. in emergent situations, a trauma patient is someone who is facing something life threatening. for example, my dad was a trauma patient when he had his heart attack.
although, the ones who survive, will most likely end up being trauma patients in the other sence. =/
why do people suck so damn much?
Shooter is identified, still at large.
It looks like he was an ex-employee of Smith & Hill, a transportation engineering consulting firm in the building.
Although that is completely unconfirmed.
update
He was caught a few minutes ago. Found at his mom's house. Orlando fire department confirmed 1 dead, 5 injured. Awful.
This sounds eerily like the answer to a question from Assassins: "Why'd you do it, Jason?"
===
Asked by a reporter outside the police station why he did it, he replied: "Because they left me to rot."
Police: Gunman caught after killing 1 in Orlando
That is so frightening for the people who locked themselves in their offices. Can you imagine sitting there for hours, waiting in horror for someone to show up and try to kill you?
