I first saw her in What's Love Got to do With It? and she blew me away. I think she's one of the most beautiful women in the world and her acting is among the best in the business. She's a lovely person too. I'm glad she was just on the view to remind me how much I adore her.
Awww, no other fans. I still love ya, Angela!
Wait a minute, Jane--I am a huge fan too!
I don't care what anyone says, I still would have voted for her over Holly for that Oscar. It isn't easy to make the REAL Tina Turner look bland by comparison.
I also liked her alot in MALCOLM X and STRANGE DAYS.
I think she's one of the most underused actresses alive.
I agree totally about Tina Turner. Did you see Angela's muscles in that film? Boy did she prepare. I'm about ready to see that one again.

Totally. I hated The Piano and everything about it. Angela was robbed!
The end of "What's Love Got To Do With It?" is so jarring when the real Tina appears, because Angela Bassett WAS Tina for those two hours.
Yeah, Phyllis, that's what I meant when I was saying she made the real Tina look ho-hum.
And who doesn't love Jennifer Lewis as Anna Mae's mama?
I wish I could have seen her in the Scottish play...ah well!

I have always been a huge fan of Angela Bassett. The first time I saw her was in Boyz In The Hood ironically playing Laurence Fishburne's wife. In What's Love Got To Do With It, she became Tina Turner and should have taken home the Oscar.
She definitely should have had the oscar. That role was huge, lots of work, and she nailed it.

Good lord, I can't believe the ER writers have saddled her with Stereotypical Role for Black Women #2.

"Mr. Turner say I got a flair, Momma, the kind would-uh, sell records."
I watch "What's Love Got To Do With it" every single time it's on- one of my favorite movies. Her body in that movie was almost better than Madonna's!!! Yes, I agree that she is an underused actress. I also loved her in Waiting To Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back. I was very disappointed in the last movie she was in that was written by Tyler Perry (the name escapes me). Of course, her acting was wonderful, but I just didn't like the plot at all....and I like all the rest of his movies.

I'll give up all that other stuff, but only if I get to keep my name. I worked TOO hard for it, your honor.
