Hi all:
My name is Marc and I have decided to join your warped and amusing family.
From the mid seventies up until the present, NYC is a trip done at least twice a year to catch all the shows I possibly can. This was stopped when my partner of 12 years died from AIDS. After that life altering experience, it took me awhile to get the strength and courage to go back to NYC as we went there together.
I was in New York this past April and I just got back a week ago, which is when I decided to join the boards as you guys and gals are alot of fun and extremely well versed in all aspects of the theatre.
Thanks for letting me ramble. Will see you on the boards.
Marc

O Canada! Welcome! New York (well at least Hell's Kitchen) gives you the key to the city (or my apartment).

Wow, a key to the city and an apartment..........so far so good :)
Thanks for the welcome everyone and Tommy, I havent been to Stratford yet, too much to do in the city unfortunately.
I am seeing Urinetown tomorrow night and Hairspray next week.
Would love to get to Stratford to see Guys and Dolls, Noises Off and Anything Goes. Hopefully will make it there in September. If you have any other suggestions of what to see in Stratford, please let me know.
Midtown..........I will stick close by :)

did you see L5Y at Canstage with Tyley and Blythe?
if you get a chance, try seeing Evil Dead the Musical at the Bathurst theatre, it's on right now for a limited engagement. It's hilarious.
And I'd reccomend G&D over Anything Goes for sure. Of course, it's ALL CYNTHIA DALE, ALL THE TIME.....what has Stratford come to?!?

Welcome to the family, Marc! Glad to hear you're giving NYC another chance. Hope you enjoy your stay in the city and on the boards.
Walking by the same person you've already walked by in the dairy, produce, and frozen-food sections.

It was a nice year to see someone other than Cynthia in the musical roles.
Lucy was beautiful as Anna and Jen Gould couldn't have been a more perfect Gigi.
I do like Cynthia Dale, she is a talented performer. But it is refreshing to see someone else in the musical leads. There are so many more talented Canadian women that it seems an injustice. She's good, but not good enough to hold a total Stratford monopoly. I mean, Reno AND Sgt Sarah? Stick to one sweetie, share the wealth.
She still is the highest paid actor at the festival. She even beat Plummer two years ago (of course, Plummer's show was a limited engagement).
What about Regan Thiel as Sarah? Or Jen Gould? IMO, Cynthia's just getting too OLD.

Wecome Marc!
I think you, me, and Midtown are going to have to start a club. Weeeee...
Oh, and enjoy Urinetown. It is my favorite show of all time. Did you get to see the original Broadway version?

Thanks Broadway :)
I never had the chance to see the Broadway version of Urinetown.
I am looking forward to seeing it tomorrow night and I will post a review.
I have heard nothing but positive things about Urinetown, even from the folks who have seen it in Toronto.

Posted: 6/24/04 at 2:22pmI hear the Toronto cast is excellent. Please do post a review. I love to hear what other people think! :)
