I adore this thread.
Erika, that is really great. One of these days I might have to flake out on one of my NY trips and head over to Cali to see you live.
Soapguy, I haven't seen you in forever. We should meet up and go do something. That was beautiful. You're vibrato switches from resonate to uncontrolled when you're not in you lower register.
Cruel, You have a pretty nice voice, but I really can't get a fill for the song if the singer isn't brimming with confidence while they sing it. But, you get an A plus for the random girl voice. I'd post something, but I haven't sang anything in years.

OK, so I recently had the pleasure of recording a demo for a new musical that Arthur B. Rubinstein is working on, and I've just posted one of the songs on my MySpace player. It's very French, with an Edith Piaf flavor... It's the first song in the player.

This is me singing Sunset Boulevard last summer. I'd never sung it before, and it's got some rough spots, but it's okay (I hope!).

It's not the best recording and I go flat a few times and the microphone that I used sucked . . . . but oh well!

Hahaha. Thanks!!! I am getting a REALLY good mic in a week or so and we are going to re-record it. Due my cheap mic, I have to sit while I sing, which causes problems, so hopefully with the good mic and me being able to stand while I sing . . . it will help.
And I will forgive you for not liking RENT. LOL!!!

Standing will definitely help with support, which in turn should alleviate any pitch issues. (Of which there were very few, you know.)

I have noticed in all of my recordings that I tend to go flat in places. So, hopefully you're right about standing. I am actually recording a cd in a couple of weeks of musical and other songs at a recording studio. Can't wait!!!
