Well...apparently not this idiot.

I start my roast at 8:15 thinking it would be done by 12:15 on High.

I just notice at 10:45 that it is set on LOW which means I have to set my alarm to get up at 4:15am to take it out of the pot.

*pounds forhead with heel of hand* Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Very convenient for busy families. We use it a couple times a month.

It IS handy to use and convenient IF you set the flipping dial correctly. AAAARGH!

It's great in the summer, too, because you don't have to heat up the kitchen by using the stove.

Put it this way. Do you REALLY care about the roast? I would forget the thing and sleep.

Yes I care about the roast. It cost a good portion of my food budget for the next few days.

10 hrs instead of 8 hrs? It won't be mush? It's a chuck roast...

They are great for making homemade soup, chili, roasts, meatballs, etc. Just start the soup and leave it to simmer all day is the best! I use my roomate's all the time and make up my own soup recipes. I love to expirement in the kitchen!

Undi,

Thanks for the reassurance. I need my sleep--which is one reason why I messed up the settings.

The Roast Survived. Very tender. I put a packet of dry onion soup mix over it and then a can of cream of mushroom soup. It is so yummy that way.

I made mashed potatoes for the gravy. Steamed some broccoli. And there's chocolate cake with buttercreme frosting.

I can't wait to get home for dinner and "24"!

I just drooled all over my Dolce & Gabbana. I haven't eaten since 1974. Gettin' a little peckish over here.

my "Secret" recipe for perfect pot roast: Throw the cheapest roast you can find in the crockpot with 1 can Mushroom soup and 1 can tomato soup- throw in a bag of them little carrots, too.

Put it on low all day while you are at work. Come home, make some mashed taters to soak up the gravy and enjoy!

Crock pots are wonderful. I make a mean ham barbeque.

Of course, the last time I did make it, I accidently put it on HIGH instead of LOW (the whole secret to a great ham BBQ is to let the barbeque sauce soak through the ham. Delish). And I forgot to put Pam in it. My mother was none too happy.
