been there, tried out for that. I'm sure i'll live.
i'm so dumb. i totally forgot i was going to costa rica this summer.
anyways.
thanks for all of you guys' suggestions
okay, i listened to "forget about the boy"...you're pushing way too hard hahaha. you really don't need to sing that hard. Just support from your diaphragm and let the sound come out. You've sung in or are in a choir aren't you? Because I can hear some kind of choir like training. Training to blend and straight tone your voice in order to create one unified choir. You've got really good sense of pitch but you're just forcing that sound and you don't need to do it. Let the sound kind of float out. Think of speaking on pitch rather than "singing". It's just gonna take some time and practice and vocal teacher who can really get specific with you about your voice. It'll come though. =]
yeah. i'm in chorus. we had this AMAZING teacher for 6 years, but he moved to NYC.
thanks for your advice. =]]

i watched your video and yah its coming. i sort of forced it before i truly had it. that's not a good idea but i did this thing where i moved my stomach in and out to make some. i don't recommend it though. then earlier this year (I'm a high school senior) it kicked in and now i have to control it. just keep singing correctly (with a voice teacher perhaps) and it'll come i promise.
ahh. the voice teacher comes up AGAIN.
i'm definately going to look in to taking lessons, but the last ones i took were C-R-A-P. complete crap.
I would like to put in a comment on the voice teacher thing as well, though. If/when you start taking lessons, keep an open mind. I've had several people teach me things in different, though similar, ways (and I've only been in this for a year >.>). The trick is to feel out what works best, sounds best, and feels best for you. Be flexible and try new things. . .you may be surprised at what works.
I tried, but we didn't do anything, and my lessons were completely unprofessional. It wasn't working for me.

You have great potentiall, but you really need training. Don't get me wrong, it's all there. When I was in elementary school and starting middle school, before the training, I decided that I wanted to "belt". Bad. You need to learn how to mix and not push so hard.
"You need to learn how to mix and not push so hard."
So I've been told. I swear, I've learned more about vocal mechanics on BWW then in chorus.
Again with the lessons?
I've looked, and there is NOTHING in my area. How dumb.

i no musicals these days use vibrato where ever possible but only use it for effect and never ever force it.
Vibrato will come naturally if you are singing correctly
I think it's a lot about just letting your voice come out entirely naturally... Once you get rid of all of the tension and have nothing affecting your voice, you should find yourself with vibrato!
I know a couple years ago I was having trouble with inconsistency in my vibrato, and I know we worked on a few things... One of them was fixing the shape of my mouth, and making sure that I was singing my vowels more purely. As well, I think resonation is a big deal, and you want to make sure you always have your "smiley cheeks"... This is so hard to explain on here!
Another thing that can be a problem for vibrato is inconsistent breath... Try doing counting hiss exercises, and practising long tones by keeping your breath very steady and focused. You want to imagine when you are singing, that your breath is coming very steadily, as if it were coming out of a pin hole!
