re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Yeah, same with me. Rejected from Delaware and Providence one week. Accepted to Yale, Ithaca, Michigan, Syracuse, Hofstra and a plethora of other schools two weeks later...

Colleges are weird.

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Question.

I sent in my Boston University application today. Now I am questioning something about the application. On it, they tell you to list courses that you have taken at other colleges.

Now, on my Quinnipiac application, they asked the same thing, but didn't make any specifications about including high school courses taken for college credit. They have a message board, and I was reading it today, and they said that you should include those courses you took in high school for college credit under the section where it asks you to list courses you have taken at other colleges.

Now, I am wondering if this goes the same for Boston. They didn't make any specifications, but, stupid me, I went and filled it out anyway. I didn't include it under the section, but rather just listed it as a class I took in high school. Although the application did say "at other colleges," now I am going to be worried about whether this will affect my acceptance or not!!!

oh.. and millie.. don't worry about the college credit courses being sent to Boston. Your high school transcripts should contain them

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

But see, I didn't list it under the area where it said "colleges where you took courses for credit" because it didn't specify whether or not you should include the high school courses you are taking for college credit (mine are taken through the University of Connecticut). So I don't want them to note my application as incomplete, or they will reject it.

Yeah, they should. Hope everything works out.

I know Emerson is located in Boston and heard it is a great liberal arts school.

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Jacob- have you auditioned for Ithaca yet?
Ithaca is my top choice for their TAM major, but I got accepted to U Scranton theatre program (nothing special, but an acceptance is an acceptance.)

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Yesterday I got into Emerson! I still have to hear from NYU, Drew, and UGA, but I'm 95% sure Emerson is my first choice.

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Millie - I had the same issue when I was applying. Honestly, when in doubt, include them. I was always told to include as much as you think might be valuable in the applications, without going overboard and putting things in that REALLY are totally irrelevant. That said, definitely include those courses. If that's not what they're looking for, they aren't going to think you're stupid for including them, because that's really a pretty ambiguous thing to ask for. And, even if that's not really what they had in mind with that question, they'll see that you took those courses, which will earn you a couple of points anyway. re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Good luck!

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

So far, I've applied to Juilliard and CCM. I'm working on my applications for Ithaca, SUNY Purchase and New Paltz, Sarah Lawrence, Eugene Lang, Marymount Manhattan College, NYU, Fordham, and Drew University right now.

I'm so worried because I have good grades, but my SAT scores are so low. I'm not a test taker, at all. However, I am taking the ACT in January and I am hoping to do much better on it. Out of curiosity, for those of you who applied to Marymount Manhattan, how big of an admissions process are SAT/ACT scores?

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

It's better to have good grades and a poor SAT than vice versa, because grades are, quite simply, a larger sample size. The only use of the SATs is that unlike teachers and grading systems, they're the same for every student. Grades are more important overall, though.

It also depends on the college. If it's a giant state school that pretty much just looks at your GPA and your SAT and that's it, obviously the SAT will be more important. If it's a school that really looks at your recommendations, essays, extra-curriculars, etc., SATs are weighed less.

I'm hoping to major in (and auditioning for) dramatic performance because acting is my true and first love. My audition is February 13th, and let me say, I'm looking forward to it! What about you?

re: Anyone Apply to CollegesYet?

Reading this thread has gotten me interested in Emerson - I just looked it up online, and it seems to be a very competitive school, but very geared towards my interests. Does a 1270 SAT seem like it's in the ballpark for this school? I also got a 720 on SAT 2 Writing and 690 on SAT Literature, if that helps.

Can someone give me a list of other schools in NYC besides NYU? I feel that the city is the best place for me to study my craft...
