I dislocated one of my fingers Saturday night (it was pretty ugly) and was wondering if anyone had any idea of a timeline for healing. I couldn't get a follow-up appointment with an orthopedist until next Monday, so I won't have a professional opinion for a week. I was hoping it'd be a relatively quick process, but now I'm starting to think otherwise.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Unless there was more damage, its not too long of a healing process. HOwever, the possibiliity of re-injury is pretty high - after the 2nd injury.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thanks, mama. I'm pretty sure there wasn't extensive damage, but I was curious (and impatient). But obviously I have to wait and see what the orthopedist says.

My sister had a problem with her shoulder for YEARS. She fell down a flight of stairs at school (like a million years ago) which caused the initial injury. It became an issue during the ensuing years until it could happen by her just rolling over in bed. She ended up having surgery about 4 years later.

And, you're welcome.

I dislocated all four fingers on my left hand years ago in my gymnast days. I think that hand was out of commission for three weeks tops (which meant no bars, rings, or pommel horse since I couldn't really grip anything with any amount of strength, but an increase in floor and vault exercises, plus a **** ton more conditioning exercises - hell on earth). It was many years ago so I dont remember the exact time frame, but I know it was no more than three weeks. Surprisingly I don't really have any problems with that hand now such as arthritis-like pains when it rains and such.
