I really like Bonnie Hunt but I'm not sure this show is a keeper. I saw her ragging on Jo from Jo and Slade on Bravo and she was dead on with respect to how Jo talks like a baby whenver she is around men and how they eat it up. Just saw Cloris Leachman on it and she was very funny. She showed off some of her dancing with her DWTS partner- pretty scary! I enjoy her show but it seems to move along a little slow. The set is beautiful but quite large. She's up against Oprah here. I usually switch it back and forth unless Oprah has a boring topic, then I won't switch.
I'm a big fan of Bonnie Hunt's, but I'm at work and I don't record anything during the day. I'm a bad fan.
Do you know if she records in Chicago?
That set is something else isn't? The red, the black piano...
It's similar to Roseanne's and Gayle King's huge "house" sets when they had short-lived chat shows.
I think BH's show is very funny (judging from 2 eps), and her buddy Don Lake is a great addition. I almost wish the show came on at 5pm in syndication, it would be a nice alternative to the 5 o'clock news.
I think she films in LA. I know what you mean about 5:00. I don't like watching the news- especially these days- it's making me crazy. I use the newspapaer so I can read what I want. I hope bonnie does well though. she has this curse of her shows not lasting long. I hope they give her time to find her audience!
I love Bonnie and when the show is really focusing on her, it's a winner. I love that she's just so chatty, and isn't afraid to show when she's emotional about a topic, it makes her accesible without being schticky. And having Don Lake as her "Gelman" is a smart choice, their chemistry is fantastic. I also love that she's Regis-like in that she can be a bit cantakerous when it comes to technological points or when she can't keep track of how she's supposed to follow a segment. Again, it goes to her honesty.
She can be a bit effusive to the point of overtalking her guests, but I count that as first-week jitters.
The set is GORGEOUS, I was like, who's paying for this? By the way, the show tapes in LA.
Bonnie Hunt can do no wrong in my book. I think she's fantastic. But, she has a hard time getting her shows off the ground. She's had a couple of sitcoms centered around her, and they've all struggled. And, has she had a talk show before? I can't remember. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. But, again - I think she's so real, and SO funny. I just wish she could find a project that would really take off. I didn't realize her show had started airing. I'll have to check it out!
otis, I don't think she's ever had her own talk show. I know she played a talk-show host on Life with Bonnie, and they improved those scenes: and as a reporter on another very short-lived sitcom, which I believe was built around her as a reporter with "on the scene" interviews.
