Yeah! I'm really excited ;]
You win some, you lose some! Hahah. Always think of the positives =]
Yeah exactly... at least you have a role
Definitely ;]
Hahaha! I can't wait to get up there and sing those tunes. So addictingggggg
They get stuck in your head so fast....
If I sing "Heaven Hop" one more time I may scream...
Yessssss!
We just had our first dance rehearsal today! So much fun! Hahaha!
I'm actually the purser now! That's really not a bad role! Better than just being a passenger, you know? ;]
We danced to "No Cure Like Travel" and "Bon Voyage" today. Hahah! It's fantastic!
Everything going well with youuuu?
We must be doing different versions... we don't have "No Cure Like Travel"!
They are going... I hate doing school productions after having done so much community theatre, you know? It just seems so unprofessional and pointless. I just want to scream at everyone to be quiet and actually try to do well. I would be more excited about this if we were actually going somewhere with this show at hte moment, but we aren't. Leads haven't even begun to start learning their songs with the music director.
I hate my school's drama program. The only reason I did this is because I have an ultimatum: this show or no show (because of impending college auditions)
I really want to enjoy this, but it's driving me crazy.
I'm glad yours is going well though!! Maybe mine will start to pick up! Congrats on your part, btw...
having some lines is always fun, and the purser is indeed well used!!
Aww! No! We are doing the revival ;x How upsetting. "No Cure Like Travel" is just fantastic!
I hate to tell you this, but it IS a high school production. You're going to get people in there who don't even care about this show, and are just doing it for ****s and giggles. Unfortunately, it puts you in a bad mood, but you gotta FIGHT BACK from yelling! Hahah! Just let them do whatever. If the director finds that they are becoming way too rowdy during rehearsals, they will bring it up. Or, if you are going to rip your hair out in a few seconds, go discuss it with the director. They'll understand!
It will get better, promise! Just make sure you have a great time with this show. It has to be memorable, because it's your final year (I presume) aaaaaaand you have the lead! It's something that you will remember for the rest of your life. Make it a great memory ;]
The Purser is rootin' for you ;]]]]]
Thanks!! I feel a little better.
The thing about our school is that we have a class for the "Play Production" kids who do all the other plays during the year... and we only have a musical every three years... so the director (who I don't care for anyway) has some obvious favoritism. The reason they usually double cast is so that the senior leaders of that group can have leads also... it's freaking ridiculous. And they are just there because they have to be, and it's driving me crazy!!! *pulls hair out*
I'm sure once we start blocking it will be better.
Good news, though... I have two other potential shows to look forward to afterward, HAIR and Cabaret, so this role will definitely help in prep for those!
Lucky you on doing the revival, btw!! I love that version. We are doing the 1962 Off-Broadway version, so I get to sing in manner of Eillen Rodger, where she slides off all her top belt notes (thank god... that many B's could kill a soprano)... and since the director's note for the leads to learn their songs and the styles is to "copy the CD", that's exactly what I get to do!
...I can't wait to do a "real" show again. lol.
//end rant
So when do you guys perform?
Haha! Aw! I'm glad I could help you out ;]
That's a little strange that you guys only have a musical every three years.... that sucks, seriously. AND double casting?! Wtf. I'd be like, "Hey! Sorry! Not doin' it!" You're obviously better than them though! Hahah! Don't you fret ;]
HAIR AND CABARET?! If you show them that you played Miss Reno Sweeney, they will bend over backwards for you! Hahaha!
Don't damage your voice, missy! Copying the CD doesn't sound like much fun, though. You can't even create your own, unique sound for Reno =[
We are performingggggg, uh, let me check:
March 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10!
Jeez. So many shows now that I look at it!
What about you?!
Cabaret will be coming before HAIR, lol... that would be insane to do both of those at the same time.
Yeah, I totally scored on the not getting double cast thing I'm secretly smug about it
Our drama department is really crazy and weird and sort of bad, so that's why I normally choose community theatre instead!
Our show I believe is March 21-24... 6 performances.
Cabaret auditions are two weeks later... The director of Cabaret has a son that attends my school so she will more than likely come see it too... *crosses fingers* must do well!!
Miss Reno Sweeney wishes that the Purser will break a leg! Without a Purser, the ship could not run!
Oh, good thing you slipped past the double casting. That really would have sucked... really ;]
Have you been in another show that your school has put on before? I know that like at our school, if you haven't been in many of the shows, you shouldn't really go for a lead... Except I got some awesome parts last year and it was my first year... So really, just forget I said that! Hahah ;x
You'll get a FABULOUS part! Don't you fret!
Aaaaaaaaaand now it's 6 o'clock, and I must get ready for school ;]
"Cabaret" is at somewhere else entirely... but I have worked closely with the director before on a different show (A Midsummer Night's Dream) and I think that thats a definite plus! The place that is doing "Cabaret", a lot of the people are returning actors who do every show... so that isn't really to my advantage... but still, I know all them too so that's another good thing
How about you though? Are you planning on doing any other shows after this one?
Aw, good! I was hoping you wouuld say something positive such as that! I was nervous that because you haven't really been active in your school's drama department, you would get mauled by the other theatre kids ;] Hahah! I would have saved you, obviously! Hahah
Well, after this oneeeeeee, I'm probably just going to wait until next year's Fall Drama. Who knows! That's a few months ahead of time, let me just get through this show ;] Haha!
Glad to know I would have not been alone in that fight
Do you know what the shows are next year?
Hahah! Aw! Never! ;]
I have absolutely no idea what the shows are going to be for next year. I'll probably find out over the summer. I'm hoping it's something good... because it will be my senior year ;]
And then you are going to be in college! Jeez louise!
Theatre major?
Hopefully. Who knows, though, I'm at that point where everything seems so stressful that I have no confidence.
But specifically, I will hopefully be starting my B.F.A. in Musical Theater... and after that, I will get my yoga instructor certification.
How bout you? I'm sure you've got the college talk...
Aww! Boost up that confidence level, girl! Reno has a sassy attitude. Bring some of that sass into your life! Hahah! I'm such a creep ;x
Aw! Yoga? That's awesome! We have to do sun salutations every day... Wait, I hate it... so much =[
I hate the college talk =[ I just want to be a history teacher! Secondary, probably high school level. It's like being on stage all the time! You have to keep these kids entertained ;]
Awesome career choice Why not theater, though?
If I make it to where I can sustain myself with theater, I want to open my own community theater and in the summer run a program for kids in orphanages (sp). Either that, or teach also.
Well, I wouldn't want to go INTO theatre because it's such a risky career choice. You're always looking for a job, and you're always working two of them! =[
Plus, I don't think I could really do it for the rest of my life.
I'm hoping that theatre will come back to me sometime down the road, but I don't really want to go searching for it. You know? ;x
Awww! That would be so adorable if you opened up your own community theatre! I'll teach there with you! Hahah! You just scored some major points with the man upstairs for that response! ;]
Lol. Hooray for having employees!
I wouldn't be doing it for the man upstairs, per se, though I think he would approve, more than I think that everyone deserves a chance for some good fun and self expression. Who knows? Maybe one of those kids will become famous one day.
Aww! Then when they recieve a Tony, they'll thank you!
That would be adorable!
Tomorrow we are learning the "Anything Goes" dance!
I'm kinda excited ;]
...I'd like a Tony first Then they can!
Exciting!!
We have only done "De-Lovely" as a whole group, and the Angels have done "Heaven Hop"... we are behind.
How are your leads?
THAT'S IT?!
Come on! Pick up the pace, silly! ;]
Our leads are great. Well, the girls are. The guys could need some work, but it's okay! They are trying SO hard! Oh, and they are super cute ;] Can't complain with thaaaat!
How are your leads?!
Well I'm just fantastic... obviously.
j/k
Well... hmm. The girls playing Hope (stupid double casting) are good...
The guys are actually better than a lot of the lead girls, IMO. Which is surprising. I was shocked. But actually that happened when we did Guys and Dolls 3 years ago. The guy playing Sky was freaking amazing.
