Sales racks just didn't cut it. The very very few shorts there were ugly or so short your a$$ hangs out. No thank you!

Then try the internet, most stores should still be carrying them there.

I can't believe people actually fell for the trucker hat trend. Ugly and a total waste of money. The real trucker hats were only about $2 and worn by trailer park rednecks. That's about as hot as a used Kleenex. "Trendy" does not necessarily equate with "attractive". It just means spending money on whatever the ads tell you to buy no matter what it looks like to wear for one season. Those girls wearing low-rise skirts with short tops so that their bellies pooch out? They think that's cute? Low-rise jeans with the back pockets on your back thighs? They make your ass look extra wide and extra flat. And low-rise on men just look like men in girls' jeans. Seriously. It is possible to be fashionable and attractive and even comfortable without having to do trendy.
And there are plenty of dress shoes that are comfortable for dancing. I did it for years and never got a blister.
"What's with magazines now showing men in suits (with ties) and wearing flip flops???"
It's called feeding the sheep. If it's on MTV or on a model, people think it must be hot and they will look good if they wear it. I say, "Yeah, good luck with that!"
I know internet shopping is so convenient, but I'm much more of the type to go to a store and try things on- I want to see how they fit/look on me, and I'm quite picky about colors and designs. Unless it's like a shirt I already own and love, and I want to get it in another color, I'll stick to store shopping!

Obvious - That is because they wanted to have sex with you. Nobody looks "dashing" in a trucker hat. It is an oxymoron. And there is nothing wrong with purchasing anything on sale. To purposely avoid them is to admit to snobbery and being close-minded. I bet you could never figure out which items of clothing I purchased on sale and which I did not. It makes no difference.

These were girls who told me that... and about the snobbery thing, I'm not a snob. I may pull out the bitch card, but I'm not a snob.
But you have to admit, "I don't do sales", is a pretty snobby comment.
And the girls wanted to have sex with you.
"I don't do sales" sounded like a joke to me.
It would sound like a joke if it weren't followed by "never have, never will". That sounds snobby.
I have friends who make snotty comments just to be snotty- as a joke. Actually, some of my friends have perfected the art of false snobbery/false bitchiness.

If I can afford to buy it when its not on sale, why should I wait until its on sale?
I'll admit to this bit of real snobbery-
I will not go into those 99-cent stores, and when I walk past a Conway or Filene's Basement, my nose wrinkles in disgust. I've been inside, and the moldy, dusty smell, coupled with the frenzied crowds, is enough to turn even me off of shopping.
Being able to afford to buy something when it is full price is fine. Deliberately avoiding something because it is on sale is entirely different. It implies that there is something wrong with it or that it is somehow beneath you, i.e. snobby. If it fits and makes you look good, it doesn't matter if it is on sale or not. Period.
Love4Cheno - I know what you mean. I know a lot of people that do that, too.
Love4Cheno - The 99-cent stores are pretty much filled with low-quality stuff. Not wanting to buy something low in quality is logical and economical. It has nothing to do with snobbery. Sales do not mean low quality, either.

C_O, I once worked for one of the richest women in the country. She was born into that money, has always had more than she could ever imagine using. And even she doesn't have anywhere near your ridiculous attitude.
Oh, believe me, I am in no way opposed to a sale.
In fact, the Barney's and Harvey Nichols' sales are my faves.
I love scoring a $200 pair of jeans for $50!
I simply cannot relate to anything being said in this conversation. How do any of you get through a day, with so many superficial rules governing your lives?

The people I know that were born into money are the cheapest people on the planet. That's all they do are sales. I know a guy that has never bought a new car. It's always been atleast a year old.
These things are hardly GOVERNING my life. I happen to like nice clothes. It's a thing. It's not all of me.
And that's why they keep their money. I sure do hope you were born into millions.

Nope. I'm with Cheno... I like nice clothes. No harm in that.
