We were poor. We couldn't afford guns. We had to commit crimes with a rock.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

Yep mom, we lived in a trailer until I was six. I slept in a sock drawer until I was about three months old. We even had rats in one trailer park. Good times! I've come a long way, baby.

We used cap guns too, but when your gen-U-ine Roy Rogers 6-shooter stopped hitting the cap dead on, you just HAD to resort to rocks!

Getting the polio vaccine in your arm. It left a big circle scar. When I entered First Grade, you had to show your arm to the school nurse in order to be admitted. I have the scar to this day. My (much) younger siblings got the sugar cube vaccine.

Didn't Gloria Okon do a commercial for Arnold's bread. I also remember in kindergarten thru the 7th grade having to wear dresses and skirts to school. I was so relieved when the rules changed in the 7th grade.

This list will certainly pin point my age as some of these are not that old.

Pogs
When collecting keychains was cool
Lisa Frank
The 59, 79, 99 cent menus at Taco Bell
When McDonalds introduced the "Super Size" option
Life without Starbucks
Life without Cell Phones
When you had to make tapes for people, rather than burning a CD
Atari
When credit cards had to be run manually.

Life without BWW

I'm sure I'll think of more.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
