Posted: 10/4/05 at 11:22amFor all the **** she gets she's a fighter. I heard her previously to her huge success when she sang Pieces of Me with only a guitar. Her voice is not terrible. They just pushed her to hard to quick.

Posted: 10/4/05 at 11:30amI never thought I'd actually be compelled to root for this girl, but I am. Probably because so many people are going to watch hoping the train goes off the tracks (again).

Posted: 10/4/05 at 2:02pmI've always liked her. Even with the whole world hating her, I thought she was a fun and spunky performer with a pretty decent voice. In fact, I think her voice has actually gotten better since she started. What she's doing is really brave, so good luck to her.

Posted: 10/4/05 at 2:05pmaaaaah, this is going to be so good. So bad, yet SO GOOD. I like her music and I think she's definitely spunky, but she really bugs me. I'm surprised they're having her back on, other than to make fun of her.

God! America loves a comeback!
My money is the Simpson's are not letting her even talk the week before the gig....just so she's primed....
No WAY will it be a fiasco!! Joe Simpson will take care of that!!! and don't be suprised if she does one song with a guitar only - hard to click track when you are that exposed!!

It seems like just moments ago to me and it's impact can never be underestimated...
It is the moment the world learned what a "click track" was and how you can be hoodwinked - how your ear can think it's hearing something when it's hearing something else...
It set about change in an industry that is still feeling its reprecussions a year later...
Do you know people are being asked to sing, acapella, in board rooms before they sign record contracts - I love Madonna but can you imagine her singing Holiday without backing in 1984...???
While mixing boards and pitch correctors will never go away...the industry is really looking for talent that can actually sing and play - for REAL....
..and since the only way in this day and age of downloading to make any real money is touring - they want you to have lungs made out of leather and vocal cords made out of steel - someone who can play 200 dates a year without tiring....and WITH a bare minimum of click tracks....
John Mayer ( a workhorse)
Jason Mraz (a mule)
and to a lesser extent Kelly Clarkson...

Holy crap that was painful. Reading that last long post was like having to listen to somebody's grandfather hold forth on the groovy young modern sounds of today.
"It set about change in an industry that is still feeling its reprecussions a year later..."
Yeah, like the chick who lip-synched Fame on the Emmy Idols section of the emmys. That never happened, thanks to the Ashlee mistake.
"The Whole World" has known what lip synching is since American Bandstand. Milli Vanilli. Top of the Pops. Name your years old favotrite. The only repercussions over the SNL performance were felt by Ashlee. Always assumed to be a joke, her performance on Saturday Night Live merely confirmed it.
But, um, the limp, damp Mraz and Mayer, loved by elevator music programmers everywhere, man, they sure are happenin!

Her SNL mishap happened a YEAR AGO??
Seriously?
It seems like yesterday...

Posted: 10/5/05 at 12:39amCanWeTalkBroadway?, must we be so snarky? Haha, Ok I like it. Anyway I guess she has two scheduled concerts this weeks to. I cannot believe she is still doing. But I have also heard that her voice is getting stronger.

My Dad used to be the Booking Agent for the Baltimore Arena and he booked Milli Vanilli all those years ago. My sisters and I adored them , we thought they were great.
I remember my Dad coming home one night and telling us that he just watched their sound check and that he was 100% positive that they were fakes and weren't singing at all.
We were horrified at my Dad for saying such a thing...and then the scandal happened and he was totally right.
Dad's really do know best.

Ashley was a "joke" that at the time of the SNL performance had sold over 3 million copies of a CD in an era where a lot of other artists were not selling anywhere near that... forget anyone connected to Broadway ..
3 million - a Broadway artist (LOL) ....This grandpa lost control of his bladder for a mo....
She was riding a pretty big wave ...and it crashed overnight....and a click track is VERY different than lip synching but being a broadway person I am sure you would not know that..
All Broadway people belt it live and with that bray that only a Broadway singer has!
Stick to talking Broadway....

Posted: 10/5/05 at 4:08pmI remember her saying shortly after this happened that SNL wanted her to go back on as a publicity stunt (for them, not her) and she wasn't going to go back just so they could get more viewers. I wonder what changed...
