Can you get your hair to sport the big curl look? Hot rollers are the key! Make your hair big, because remember the wardrobe is the character who lives in the past. Where she used to be rich and beautiful. So make sure your hair is big enough to fit her personality! But PLEASE do not cover your face with hideous blue eyeshadow and pounds of blush. The directors will want to see you, not what the character looks like...completely.

WOW! What school did you go to? Those are amazing costumes and sets. Let me tell you the costumes for Beauty and the Beast run about $100,000 professionally. So probably, from what I've seen about 7,000 for school rate. I say it at Rangeview, and they were the first in the entire state to do the show and the set was huge and the costumes A-MAZE-ING! For school especially.
Two other things, umm, do you have any dance tips, I know Madame De La Grande Bouche does not dance (how could she in that costume?) But do you have any tips, because I still have to do the dance audition too. And any ideas about what kind of colors I should wear?

I go to LVA! Our costumes and sets were made professionally. All in all, the production cost more than 70,000 bucks, a little expensive...hahah but worth it.
Dancing...hmmmm
Well...you can't just base your audition on wanting to be the wardrobe. I know that's what youre shooting for..but take this for instance.
For my Thoroughly Modern Millie audition, I was set on Millie. So when I sang the songs I worked my ass off to be the character of Millie. But when the dance audition came, I wasn't about to push my way to the front and act like Millie already. haha I just had to do the dance like everyone else, with personality. Lots of smiles! Because just in case I didn't get called back for Millie, they knew I could cut it for ensemble.
Turns out I got the role of Millie, but for dance callbacks, just make sure you do it right and with lots of personality! As for colors...if you're going with the black skirt or pants idea, just pick a brightly colored shirt that compliments you. Like for me, turquoise, red or pink are the colors I stick to! And if you have character shoes, those are the best choice! Clunky heels aren't good, because you can't move in them!!

Thanks, I totally took that advice. I know to look out for other parts, like maybe a silly girl (the guy who's likely to play Gaston is way hot) or townsperson #3.
So I need to be versatile. And thanks, if I get the part you will be up on the 'Fave Drama People' List along with Danny Henningson who nominated me for the Techie award I recieved last year. You will if I don't get the part, but it doesn't matter.

sell vegetables on the corner?!
kidding...
I went to an Into the Woods audition a few months ago, and I had on my black skirt, turquoise top, character shoes and my hair all done nicely, and I walk into the room and there are equity actors in ripped jeans and t-shirts. I was like wow. for real homie? (soapguy that was for you! hahah) But the director came up to me and some friends of mine that also came to the audition dressed in similar clothing and thanked us for looking so professional, and that it was nice to see people our age taking theatre seriously and not making it seem like their audition was a complete joke.
So it always pays to look nice! Even if you don't get cast in the role you want, the director will always remember you and maybe use you for another show!!!
Best of luck!!!!!!!

Posted: 7/2/06 at 11:03amAbout that old T-Shirt thing. That annoys me to no end! In a way it's funny though, if someone were at a Les Mis audition and they showed up with a YAGMCB shirt on. Great way to suggest you want to play Eponine.

I have had 2 auditions lately. One went very well, one didn't.
#1 Grease-I wore a black velour Juicy sweater over a white t-shirt and clamdigger jeans. Shoes were high espadrilles that were difficult to walk in. I got Fran.
#2 The Mystery of Edwin Drood-I wore ivory linen Bermuda shorts and a coral collared t-shirt. Shoes were black flats. I got Helena.
You should be able to guess which audition was the good one.
