Hello there!!

I'm auditioning for Johanna from "Sweeney Todd." I have the right voice type for the role, but I was wondering if you guys could offer up some ideas for audition songs (maybe with similar characters/ranges to Johanna?)

Thanks!

Would a song from The Light In The Piazza be too overdone? Because Clara is a lot like Johanna, both vocally and in terms of personality in some ways.

If I Loved You from Carousel might work I think...

Rapunzel from Into the Woods is almost the exact same character. If you could find the sheet music to "Our Little World" which is a song that was cut from Into the Woods before it made it to Broadway, that would be a good song to sing.

Poor Wandering one from Pirates of Penzance.

Something like 'Home' from Yeston's Phantom, perhaps?

My favorite role EVER.
I would suggest something from Music Man since it's ultimate soprano. Or 'How Could I Ever Know' from Secret Garden.
'Our Time' from Merrily We Roll Along, or 'Warm All Over' from Most Happy Fella.
Good luck on your audition :]

Honestly, I'd skip doing something from the Musical Theater realm, and go for a high soprano classical piece. It'd be more impressive, & probably show you off more. Plus it's alot like Johanna's voice.

RJBrown, is right!

If you have any classical high soprano or coloratura pieces that would work well...Johanna is more about the voice than anything.

However, if you don't have any of those I would suggest "Much More" from 'The Fantastics'. It shows off a nice high range...though it may not go as high as Johanna. Also, Lousia is a young girl who is singing about seeing what else is out there in the world...she may not be as tragic as Johanna, but they have many things in common.

Hmm, I wouldn't do something from the opera world. As a director when someone brings an opera piece I think hmm, maybe they are only a voice and can't act.
