Another "memoir" from this man? Forget the Frey-esque embellishment factor, why are we supposed to embrace more of this man's reminiscences? His entire literary achievement is remembering. We get it, you had a rough time. You picked up martinis. You didn't like Rehab. You wanted to be famous. You wanted to be famous. You wanted to be fam--

Posted: 4/30/08 at 3:26pmI saw the book in Target and the exact same thing crossed my mind. I havent seen any press or reviews on the book, so I do not know what impressions are so far. I was not interested in the least.

Augusten Burroughs has works of fiction published as well. I'm just tired of the "dark and eccentric" genre. I know it's been in fashion for several years now, but I always found it more self-indulgent than entertaining. And not just the memoirs, but the various fiction authors as well. It's like they're all competing for who can be the quirkiest and the most grim. But funny! Yet edgy.

Posted: 4/30/08 at 4:26pmThere is certainly room for a gay Harold Robbins. He should try to channel him.

Posted: 4/30/08 at 4:36pmI understand where you're coming from but Augusten Burroughs can write about whatever he wants. If one doesn't like a book or a certain author one can ignore his/her work.
