Very sad. I loved his Chronicles of Prydain series.

I didn't know he was still alive! That is sad, these books have been on my mind lately.
I had no idea he was still alive either -- that's sad. The Black Cauldron is a real classic.
I remember those books...though it's been ages and ages since I read them (after seeing the animated version of "The Black Cauldron")
I remember especially liking Adaon, though his part was so brief, and Gwydion.

i actually just watched the animated version of the black cauldron with my sisters this evening after not having even thought of it in ages....curious coincidence. Very sad
How sad! I, too, grew up with the Chronicles of Prydain. (It was especially nifty for me, being Taryn, to read about a leading character named Taran.)
I read them all in my junior high years, starting from when we had to read "The Book of Three" in sixth grade English and turn it into a play. We made the blatant error of actually giving the Horned King a name as Gwydion vanquished him.

i loved these books too!!!
i read 'em in 5th grade, my mom got me the dell paperbacks boxset as a biirthday present & i devoured 'em.
i loved the cover illustrations, i could get lost in them...& some of them were soooo creepy!!!!!
i remember crying for days over the last sentence in the last book.
i think that mightve been the first time i began to understand that we all die & fade from memory.
Aw, I loved (love) the Chronicles of Prydain. Very sad news.
