After two histories of Christianity and a history of Islam in recent years, the BBC catches up with Jewish experience. They have turned to one of their favourite intellectuals to do the ground work and presentation, and I thought it may be of interest to some of you here; I don't know where you folks get your British television from but I'm sure you can find it if you want to.

My brain is so wired into hook-up ad abbreviations I'm always startled to realize it means British Broadcasting Corporation.
What does BBC mean in hookup lingo? I don't think I've ever seen that one.

That gives the title of this thread a new meaning.

I love all! But especially those Semitics!
Sadie & Moishe drive up to the Fontainebleau. When the bell boys come out to get their bags, they tell one to take the suitcases, one to park the Cadillac, and one to carry their fourteen year-old son into the hotel.
Esther is walking by and says "Ach--such tsurris--that handsome boy can't walk". Sadie looks over and says "He can walk, but thank God he doesn't have to!"
oy. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the documentary!
I will be very interested in seeing the documentary. The one thing that worries me to some extent is that, despite Britain's historical role in administering what was then called Palestine, British sources sometimes seem to forget that Britain, at one point favored a Jewish homeland in an area that included the current state of Israel. This amnesia could result in a documentary that is heavily skewed towards the Palestinians.
To be fair to the British, I've noticed that American news sources can become equally forgetful that the United Nations voted to establish the state of Israel. I suspect that there are numerous individuals in North America and Europe that believe that Jews moved into what was then a country run by Palestinians, took it over, and created Israel. I shouldn't pay any attention to comments on most news blogs, but I'll always remember the woman who said that the UN's creating Israel was similar to deciding that the US screwed the native Americans, and giving them Switzerland in return.
In any event, I'll watch the documentary with an open mind. The ancient history portion will hopefully be apolitical.

I've seen a couple episodes already. It doesn't have an anti-Zionist agenda.

Looking fwd to it. Thanks for the heads up, Scripps.
(Namo, if we ever get a drink, remind me to tell you about the BBC correspondent I "dated" who lived up to his employer's unintended promise)
"They have turned to one of their favourite intellectuals to do the ground work and presentation."
Perhaps I should have written they have turned to one of their favourite Jewish intellectuals who also happens to be a professor at Columbia University...
