re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

Wait, just a second before we go back to the awards. In my delightful thread in which people get to vote for what psychological diagnosis Mary_Ethel is living with, CAPN revealed that M-E PMed him last night and and said he was so sorry for going off on him in this thread and explained that he was "having a bad day." Naturally, I returned to this thread, the site of the tantrum/melt-down/borderline behavior, and there is no sign of a public apollogy. This is kind of odd behavior coming from the person who kept stating that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. In my opinion, if a private apollogy over public misbehavior happens off the board, and nobody else is there to see it, does it even happen?

re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

Think of it this way, my unique little plum, (that's an acronym for plum spelled backwards!), *if* I behaved in a public thread in a manner that could be considered "cruel," and the next day I woke up and realized that I was in the wrong and that I should ask for forgiveness, I would do it in the same manner in which I was cruel, in the public thread. You can rest assured that if that day comes, that is how I will do it.

Do you ever get a little dizzy from jumping from one side to the other with such frequency?

re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

I had a side? The only side I'm on is a side that would prefer that people spend less time hurting each other here. As far as I can see, starting a thread devoted to "diagnosing" the "mental instabilities" of a board member is hurtful behavior. But whatever, it's not up to me, is it?

re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

A certain poster apologized to me privately for a hateful accusation of matricide he made on a public thread.

I told him that I would accept his apology only if he made the amends publicly, just as he had accused me publicly of killing my mother. He was unable to do so.

Some people simply lack the integrity needed to make public amends.

re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

Actually Plum, you're right, it's not up to you. I find your tendency to just bristle at ANY contentious behavior to be amusing. So you spent many a post in this thread defending CAPN against M_E and then you switch to defending M_E against M-E!

Clearly, there was some SERIOUS psychological stuff happening in Mary's Memorable Meltdown. And the funny thing is, the joke about my thread is that I was playing off of Mary_Ethel's tendency to make reference to the countless number of PM's he'd gotten supporting his tirade. This is an OLD tactic of Mary_Ethel's, from one of his previous unbalanced screen names right on through to this one.

Funny thing is, I always thought he was lying, but my diagnosis thread really HAS received a lot of PMs and another funny thing is, so far the leading diagnosis by vote is a write-in!

I know you see any conflict as "hurtful," any losing loser party in a battle in need of your superhero intervention. And that's fine. All members of groups have roles to play, and that's yours. But if I were REALLY interested in being CRUEL with my diagnosis thread, it would have started with more of a "See, I told you so, I never liked Mary_Ethel and this is why: all the phoney sweetness and overuse of smiley icons is masking seething hostility that will blow like a volcano and unpredictable times," introduction.

So there, now you know my motivation. I know you seem to think this is more of a group therapy situation where people should know what is hurtful so that when they go out in the real world and try to have relationships, they'll know how to do it. Well, to me this place is the real world, and in the real world you sometimes have to develop a thick skin. In Mary_Ethel's case, that means lashing out and then putting the block on so that he doesn't have to deal with any ramifications.

re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

Dear lord. You're giving me way too much credit, if that's what it is, Namo. I start fights with people at least as often as I make my pathetic little attempts to break them up. If trying not to let arguments lapse into personal insults means I fancy myself a "superhero interventionist," fine- I'll be sure to get an avatar with a purple cape.

I don't think this is a group therapy situation or some kind of practice for real-world relationships. The relationships between posters are real, even if they're different from the RL variety. Maybe I'm a believer in karma or some twisted version of "what goes around, comes around," or maybe I'm just a little wimp who doesn't like making enemies. Either way, I don't think insults usually accomplish much except giving a few people a sense of self-righteous satisfaction, hurting others, and poisoning the atmosphere of the board for the rest.

Anyway, I'm off to my Fortress of Solitude and Showtunes. You keep performing your self-appointed office of "thickening people's skin." I've lodged my protest, and that's all I can do. Peace.

re: BROADWAYWORLD MEMBER AWARDS: And The Nominees Are...

Now Plum, we're not so different, you and I. You see, my starting the diagnosis thread IS my karmic role, it is the coming around to Mary_Ethel. It's not my regular job, nor is it a role I feel is uniquely mine. But after unreasonably attacking and attacking and attacking, it doesn't really seem so cruel to ask, WHAT IS YOUR DIAGNOSIS M_F_E?

Several horrible jokes about tools are coming to mind, but I know if I go into that kind of territory I'll be outclassed. *bows* It's been fun, though.
