Firstly thanks for your over the top joy re: JOYFUL, JOYFUL. Imagine how much fun it was to rehearse! Secondly, let's all thank Beethoven, who wrote the damn music! (Ode To Joy) And thirdly, my arranging collaborator on that film was Mervyn Warren, who is really responsible for that phenomenal arrangement.
Mervyn was a creator of the gospel jazz vocal group TAKE 6. BUY THOSE CD's!!!! He co-produced the first two. Stop what you are doing and GO GET THEM NOW!
He also created "Hallelujah A Soulful Celebration" a completely brilliant reimagining of Handels Messiah. GO. GET IT NOW!!!
and Whitney Houston's Xmas CD and her "The Preachers Wife" arrangements, and Queen Latifah's songs (Lushlife) in the movie "LIVING OUT LOUD"
AND he just got the gig of musical producer for the DREAMGIRLS movie!! yippee!!!

Marc - I bought the Soulful Celebration years ago and love it - I put it on the iPod with my other Messiah versions so the songs come up in order and it is amazing to hear the juxtaposition of traditional and new.
I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?
