I've tried to stay quiet on this but quite frankly, the thought of people not wanting pictures taken scares me. What are they--ax murders? Americas Most Wanted? Dead beat dads/moms wanted for child suport?
I understand some people are shy but give me a break.

bway11 and D, some folks just don't want their pic taken and posted on a theatre message board. Nothing wrong with that.
and bway, nothing wrong with smart ass comments either. its nyc and its full of smart ass guys and gals. thats just life in the big city.
cheers, bulldog
I think it's just that some folks are "in the biz" or "hoping to be in the biz" etc. which is why they're using aliases here, and therefore are sometimes camera shy. One of the wonderful things about Internet message boards in the anonimity of it all, which you give up some of meeting in person and more of with a photo record of it all.
Obviously (see photo @ left), I've got no such troubles myself, but I've got no sort of performing, or official theater biz aspirations other than this here site.
I don't think anyone would have dove under the table had there been cameras there, many just preferred not.
My 4 cents,
Rob

I respect the desicion, but it is not like we would post them on ATC...we would post them BWW.com...pics of the BWW.com get-together.

It's one thing to have your picture taken at a friendly gathering and then put it in an album of fond memories. It's another thing to have that picture floating in Cyberspace.
You know, since I did the Channing interview, my name now comes up on Google searches. As a schoolteacher, I've always valued my privacy and now some of that is gone.

Or maybe they are ax murderers. Which is why I think we should all bring cameras next time! That America's Most Wanted show offers some pretty big payoffs.
I can't stop envisioning a large gathering of people at Barrymore's with bags over their heads.

So how much would I get for a picture of you, Namo?
And shouldn't that be "The Vote Namo Lifetime Swing Queen of the Universe Committee" or "The Vote Namo Lifetime Swinging Queen of the Universe Committee" or "The Vote Namo Lifetime Queen of Swing AND the Universe Committee"?

The simple title of "Lifetime Queen of the Universe" is more than enough. There are plenty of other pictures of me on the net. All it takes is a credit card and proof of legal age to see them.
I believe if people wear paper bags on their heads at the next gathering, then we'll know who the ax murderers are!

I am terribly sorry for asking this "dumb ass question". I didn't mean to cause drama. The real reason I asked was because I wanted to see some pictures of Felicia Finley, but I didn't know this was discussed before. Again, I'm sorry for causing trouble.

I'm guessing that precious few here are posting their own pictures as icons. I remember when I first joined, having a "duh" moment and thinking "Damn, a lot of these young women look so similar..." Of course, it didn't take long to catch on that this is the epicenter of Idina-land (not that there's anything wrong with Idina...except, possibly, when she ad libs too much...but lets not go there again....) and now realize that some of the people sporting her image as an icon are still in Jr. High (not that there's anything wrong with *that* either). I have no theatrical aspirations and I'm pretty comfortable with who I am, but if I'd made it to Barrymores I wouldn't be have been happy about having my picture taken and posted. I think it was a reasonable decision, although disappointing for the curious (including me...lol).
But, I really think in addition to what RobD said there is a certain amount of fairness to this issue. Whether you live on 47th St or in CA, if you did not go, it would not be fair for you to get to see who the people were, especially while you get to hide behind your icon. And, perhaps, this will inspire more people to go to the gatherings. =)

And she was probably the one person there who would have been happy to have her picture taken and posted.

Excellent additional points by you both, Iflit and Jrb. Thanks for that.
Using myself as an example, I was only a few blocks away and chose not to go. I have made some very nice and kind acquaintances on this board. I didn't feel the need to put names to faces for a number of reasons. Personally I would prefer to meet a few socially and more privately. But that's just me.

I don't think there were any ax murderers in out midst last Friday. Corine was away on a tropical island feeding iguanas--or at least she claimed she was.
