This has been a really interesting past couple of days on here. Little did I know I missed a drunken meltdown too? :/

But yeah. I feel like I understand all that jazz and broadway guy. I was that kid in 2006. I had a different account back then and got in I many weird fights. Mind you, I was in middle school but still. So, in short: it gets better. Especially with age.

Ljay -- I don't think one is any worses than the other. They are both a product of their environment/generation. The environment of entitlement -- which includes being congratulated on every little thing they've ever said or done. They don't know how to listen to others and actually have a conversation. No one has ever told them that it is possible they are wrong. (I'm not saying they are always wrong, either.)

I see it all the time -- and then students are shocked when they don't do well on a paper or exam. Because they did it "their way" or didn't follow instructions. I can't tell you how many essays I get that kids don't even answer the writing prompt. Then they argue with you that their grade is unfairly low.

The whole "I believe what I believe so therefore I am right" is a lifestyle. Look at how they use words incorrectly and when that is pointed out their defense is...well that's not how I'M using the word. Like word definitions are arbitrary and up to the individual.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

There was a poster here a long time ago who was a young teen and (allegedly) has aspergers. He was very similar to broadway guy in that he was always lashing out (big dramatic lashing out) at every little perceived slight.
(the throw downs between him and papalovemambo were epic)

Several of us tried to explain to him that his anti-social behavior was making him persona non grata. He lacked the basic social skills to participate in this type of forum.

I don't bother with these kinds of posters anymore because I don't know if they have some kind of learning or other disability and can't help themselves.

BUT - even if they do have some sort of problem there are still basic rules of conduct that no one is excused from if they want to be taken seriously.

Jazz, I don't know if you're a troll or not. I personally don't think you are (although my troll radar is not as finely tuned as Diva's or Jordan's). The gun gif was a bad call. Ok, learn from it and move on.

For what it's worth I'd rather have 10 posters like Jazz than 1 poster like those trolls who took over the board Sunday night, or someone as thoroughly obnoxious as gchris11.

I agree with every single word. However, it's not just the students exhibiting this behavior. I was in a department meeting recently where another professor (Yale educated, I might add, with about 3 advanced degrees) kept using a word incorrectly in a rant against another professor's curriculum proposal. When the definition was read aloud to him (Guess who?

) his response was "That's not my meaning of the word." I was appalled.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Is it not supposed to be a thing that people on the autism spectrum, particularly on the aspberger's end, thrive in online communities?

That's why I scoffed at g.e.s.u.n.d.h.e.i.t.'s sudden disability announcement and his informing people that others had "learned how to deal with him" and that I should too.

I don't think Jazz is a troll either. As others have stated it's a generational thing partly and the fact that he/she thinks they're top of the world.

I'm dealing with a similar issue at work. A 20-something kid has only been here for a few months but acts like none of the procedures apply to him. When anyone (especially a woman) tries to correct he becomes very antagonistic. His way or the highway.

Jazz needs to understand that he/she is a child compared to many people on this board. They may think they're a grown up but it's really not the case. Many, many uses on this board have more knowledge and life experience. He/she should learn from us instead of trying to show how much "smarter" he/she is.

AllThatJazz is a different kind of troll.

One that doesn't know how the boards work, but gets all huffy when told how they do work.

It's like, we have a party going on here and they show up late, piss in the punch bowl and then wonder why no one thinks they are funny.

But the only example I have ever seen of aspbergers was that poster I mentioned.
